Most of you don't know but I had inguinal hernia surgery last week and I'm down for several weeks. The spring garden is pretty much done and I'm moving into fall gardening. I planted Ambrosia sweet corn just before I had my surgery. Hoping to be able to have a fall harvest of sweet corn. I have the best nurse in the world and I have been worried how I can cultivate and hill my sweet corn and the rest of the garden. Well I have the best gardening partner too because yesterday Cindy got the wheel hoe and cultivated and hilled the sweet corn for the first time. She did an amazing job and I am so thankful for her. Thank you for everything you do for me sweetheart! The garden looks amazing!

I have had the best cantaloupe crop this year. I never have been able to grow cantaloupe or watermelon but this year I guess I done something right lol. This variety is called Ambrosia and omg they are so good. Nothing better than fresh cantaloupe out of the garden. You can’t find a more softer sweeter cantaloupe than what you get from your backyard grocery store. These were started from seed and the seeds came from Hoss Tools. They are pretty much done but I have a couple more that will be ready in a couple days. I am very pleased with the harvest and have eaten more cantaloupe this year than I believe I have my entire life … lol

Well my garden took a beating yesterday evening. We had 2 back to back severe thunderstorms and they both dropped hail from pea to golf ball size. Potatoes got the worst end of it. Tomato plants were next. Other than being flooded everything else looked to be ok. Everything should recover and be ok.

Well I got everything planted in the garden over the weekend. All transplants and seeds sown using the Hoss seeder. Tomatoes that were planted back on March 25th survived the cold snap we had and are doing great. Gave them some calcium nitrate. Side dressed my potatoes with some 10 10 10. Potatoes, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower planted back in Feb. are doing great.

Squash, zucchini, watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumbers, peppers, okra, sweet corn, peas and green beans all went in this weekend.

Hoss will always be my go to for everything gardening! Why anyone would wanna buy from someone else besides Hoss is beyond me. They are family owned, they are gardeners just like all of us, they have great customer service, great products, seeds, plants, tools, fertilizer, etc… they have everything you need in one place! Why go anywhere else! Thank you Greg Key, Sheila (Mama Hoss) and everyone at Hoss Tools! Keep up the great work! — at Kickin' Chickin' Farm.
