❤️ CANDYLAND SWEETS IS STAYING OPEN! ❤️

After a lot of thought, prayer, and hearing from several of my loyal customers — along with meeting so many new customers — I’ve made my decision…

I just can’t quit. 🥹❤️

There’s no way I can walk away from something that means this much to me.

Opening and running a bakery has been a dream of mine since I was very young. I absolutely LOVE baking, creating new things, and most of all, seeing the smiles and excitement from my customers when they get their orders. 😍

And my kids… they LOVE seeing the orders come in too! 😂❤️ They especially love that I always make a little extra so they can have their favorites on hand. Being able to build something that they get to watch grow means more to me than I can explain.

I know I will definitely have to make some changes along the way, due to health issues that I'm now facing. Things may look a little different, and I may have to adjust how I do things, but I’m not giving up on this dream.

The love and support you all have shown me has reminded me exactly why I started in the first place.

So here we go… Candyland Sweets is staying OPEN! 🎉❤️

With God’s help, my faith, and all of you, we can make this happen!

Taste is very good....it isn't dense at all (which was my main concern). But the crust was pretty hard. It didn't stop my hubby though. He's already eaten half the loaf. 🤷‍♀️🤣

I did, however, contact my girl at SR Sourdough Micro Bakery and found out what I did wrong.

I do think I'll be trying another recipe within a day or two though, just to see which I like best...or which the hubby likes best I guess.

Milkshake is showing all the signs of being ready to bake. 😍

So, I have found a recipe that I'm going to start with. The dough is made and resting now. It still won't be ready to actually bake til in the morning.

I now know why sourdough bread makers sell for $12-$15. This is a LONG process. Lol. But if recipe works, this will be worth it.

First loaf will just be a plain classic loaf, while testing the recipe.

If this recipe is a success, I'll be a making Jalapeño Cheddar loaf within a couple days. ❤️

Milkshake (sourdough starter) is doing AMAZING...and smelling even better!!

The black line on jar is where we started this morning, after feeding. 12 days old today! Going to give her a couple more weeks to really be ready, and then we'll be ready for baking!❤️

Trying to decide what I should make first....
- Jalapeño Cheddar Loaf, or
- Regular Sandwich Loaf

Tried a new experiment in the kitchen today.

First time ever making Potato Bread❤️

Let's just say...it probably won't be my last, but definitely won't be making it more than a couple times a month.

A little over FOUR HOURS to make, but it's finally done!!

*Definitely getting some actual bread pans soon

Just wait til you see what Milkshake has been up to!👀😮

I'll post photos today or tomorrow, but our sourdough starter, Milkshake, has been doing awesome. We are on day 12!! Going to give her a couple more weeks and then we'll be baking our own sourdough bread!😮😍

The kids have loved helping feed her and take care of her. She's now doubling, and even tripling, after every feed. ❤️

Can't wait to see how the bread does!
