I figured it was probably time for a little update over here since The Insomnia Baker page has been pretty quiet lately….

Our little man is still in the NICU, 16 days in, so life looks very different for us right now. Our days mostly revolve around being with him, loving on him, and cheering him on as he works toward coming home. He’s still got some growing and learning to do, but he is one heck of a little warrior. We are so proud of him!

I also just need to say thank you.

I genuinely don’t know how we would have walked through these last couple of weeks without the people around us. The meals/doordash dropped off, the prayers, the messages, the people checking in, offering to help, or simply reminding us that they’re thinking about us… it has meant more than I know how to explain.

I’ve spent years baking for so many of your birthdays, weddings, babies, celebrations and big moments in life. I never really thought about what it would look like when it was my family who needed a little extra love.

And you guys showed up.

That means more to me than any order you could ever place.

I don’t know exactly when The Insomnia Baker will be back in the kitchen. Right now, I’m just a mama who wants her little boy home. The cakes can wait.

Thank you for giving me the space to be that right now. And thank you for loving our little family so incredibly well while we wait for our tiny warrior to come home. 🤍

Apparently our littlest baker was just a little too excited to join the family business!

Our sweet little man decided waiting another 8 weeks simply wasn’t for him and made his tiny but mighty entrance into the world a little ahead of schedule..

Right now, our family will be spending a few weeks in the NICU, where we like to say he’s still baking. He just decided he wanted to finish baking where we could all see how cute he is. He’s busy growing, getting stronger, and already showing us just how much fight can fit inside such a tiny little body!

So while The Insomnia Baker kitchen may be quiet for a while, my hands and heart are fuller than they’ve ever been. I’ve made a lot of sweet things over the years, but this little guy is without a doubt my sweetest creation yet!

For now, I’ll be right where I’m supposed to be, cheering on our littlest baker while he finishes baking. The cakes can wait. This tiny season is far too precious to miss. 🤍

This one was SO much fun to bring to life!

The sandworms, the eyeballs, the obnoxiously perfect green and purple…it’s creepy, it’s chaotic, and I’m obsessed!

The second photo is the cake I created.

I absolutely love using inspiration photos to understand the vision you're going for, but I also love putting my own heart into every cake I make. That's what makes homemade cakes so special!

To my sweet Insomnia Baker family,

As much as this pains me to write, I've made the decision to officially stop accepting any new custom orders until further notice as I head into maternity leave.

If you're already on my calendar, don't worry! I will absolutely be fulfilling every order that's already been placed. This only applies to new inquiries moving forward.

Truthfully...this wasn't the plan. If you know me, you know I'm an extreme busybody. I joke that I had to Google the definition of rest because I'm not convinced it's ever been part of my vocabulary. I'm always doing, creating, baking, or helping someone. But this week reminded me that this season is asking something different of me.

After an unexpected trip to the hospital this week, God made it pretty clear that it's time for me to pump the brakes. As much as I love creating cakes and celebrating your biggest moments, nothing is more important than doing what's best for me and baby Lazarus right now. My greatest masterpiece is still baking, and he needs his mama to slow down so he can stay exactly where he belongs for a little while longer.

This business has been such a blessing in my life. You've trusted me with birthdays, weddings, baby showers, anniversaries, and so many milestones over the years. I'll never be able to fully express how grateful I am for every order, every kind word, every recommendation, and every ounce of support you've shown me.

Thank you for understanding, for cheering me on, and for praying over our little family during this season. Lord willing, I'll be back in the kitchen before you know it, covered in flour...and probably baby spit-up too!
