Spotted Mountain Ranch "Slash Bar A" Rooted in hard work, heart, and a little bit of magic. At the Bar A Ranch, I raised performance appaloosas and quarter horses several years ago.

We’re a small, spirited farmstead raising livestock, growing dreams, and celebrating the beauty of rural life in every season. I bred not only for performance, but disposition and quality as well. From our newborn foals up to our everyday ranch horses, we take pride in the horse that we produce. There is always something happening here and our horses are ready for any discipline or program out there. Although the breeding program is on hold, the foundation still lingers in the stock that still call my place their home. Currently, we are only offering outside training, sales advice and lessons. I'm a huge advocate of horse rescue and support Colorado Horse Rescue Network. Check out their Facebook group and adopt a horse in need, support the rescue or make a donation. This page will follow the journey the ranch horses I have and the rescues I bring in. I'll also share tips and tricks from time to time. Thank you all for your continued support.

Picked up this little dude at the sale barn last week. Spent all morning building him a pen to get him out of the barn. He's yet to find a name but I have a few favorites in mind.

Spring weekend at Dream Fire Farms: complete.
Chicken‑pen upgrades: also complete… for now.

The chickens have officially filed a list of demands, including but not limited to:

• More room to squabble
• Better snacks
• A sunroom
• And apparently a hot tub

We’re doing our best, folks. The pen is sturdier, the girls are happy, and we are one weekend closer to pretending we’re “caught up” on spring chores. Minnesota farm life at its finest.

Spring has officially arrived here in Minnesota which, as we all know, doesn’t mean it’s warm… it just means the snow finally gave up. The grass is stretching awake like it’s been hitting the snooze button since October, the horses are out there acting like they’ve been released from winter prison, and Bodhi is absolutely convinced this is the greatest season ever invented.

Sunshine? Incredible. Mud up to your ankles? A blessing, apparently. Random patches of green? Life‑changing. Bodhi’s giving spring a solid 12/10 and frankly refuses to hear any opposing opinions.

Meanwhile, the old homestead is looking at us like, “Good luck, folks you’ve got about three months of chores to cram into one weekend.” Fences to fix, things to unbury, projects we definitely meant to finish last fall… it’s all waking up right along with the grass.

But honestly? Watching the horses stretch out in the sun and Bodhi live his best mud‑covered life makes the whole Minnesota spring circus worth it. Even if we all know we’re one rogue snowstorm away from betrayal.

The pastures are waking up, the animals are feeling frisky, and the whole farmstead is buzzing with that first‑sunshine energy.

Here’s to longer days, greener fields, and all the magic this season brings to our little corner of the world.
