'Lettuce' tell you about how our garden grows! 🌱

We have a bumper crop of buttercrunch lettuce available for $5 per bag. This lettuce is so good! Put it on sandwiches, salads, or just munch as a snack 🥪. We've been eating these leaves right out in the garden while we work! It was picked fresh this morning, and should keep at least a week in the fridge (if you can stop yourself from eating it all before then 😂)

This week’s warm weather found our boys working in the garden! Tanner has been a busy bee getting our NEW garden built and set up for the spring planting. We have more space than ever before, and when the fence is put up and the plants are in the ground it will be a DESTINATION at our new farm location. Hey guys! We have been so absent, we apologize, but boy have we been BUSY! ⬇️

To catch you up to speed:
We sold our house back in September which was the original grounds for The Good Shepherd Farm. While we’re in between living situations, we’ve moved the farm to family land where the animals have totally blossomed! We now have twice as big of a pasture for the goats. The chickens have thoroughly enjoyed being free range on much more property. Martha, LGD, is doing a wonderful job protecting the herd. & the shepherds, they’re loving their new home & when let out, LOVE roaming the woods & running the trails.

Some new upgrades that are in progress is our new garden area. Swipe to the last picture to see what Tanner & my dad built the other week 😍 A beautiful archway entrance to the garden. Rock lined beds have been set & we are in the process of installing new fence to keep deer out & spreading out the area that will be the tilled garden area.

We also just got done with building the goats their shelter as wintery mix is forecasted & we want to be sure our kidding mamas have a safe, warm space for their babies when that time comes. Next post will feature that new addition to the farm. 🐐

We still have LOTS to do & our dreams for this new farm location are endless. We plan to keep you guys up to date more often now but we are also welcoming our 2nd kid & becoming a family of 4 here in just a short 3 months. Wouldn’t ya know it, we are having another boy! 🩵 Another helpful farm hand is always welcomed around here! Stay tuned for more farm content 👀

After Tanner spent hours last week prepping the chicken coop for Martha to nest in (since that’s where she had pups the first time), she managed to use the playhouse yesterday to birth her newest litter of two beautiful girls. Strider, the father of these pups, passed away a few weeks ago. His legacy lives on through these two girls & we couldn’t be happier! 🐾💕

Everyone say hello to Alamo “MoMo” 🐾 We fell in love with this fella very early on & made the choice to keep him for ourselves. The other 10 pups have all been rehomed to amazing families! This sweet pup is so gentle with Lincoln, loves to play with the other animals animals, & truly enjoying life on the farm. Alamo is following his mama, Martha, around literally every second of every day & watching her every move. We look forward to seeing these two protect & learn to protect our livestock.
