I am not on the farm this week, hubby and 4 of the kids are doing the chores. I am in Huron at the state fair. One of our daughters is showing her new bull. So things are looking a little bit different for us this week. Praying for a great show and our daughter to have fun and learn and i really pray our animals at home behave because the alway choose the worse times to misbehave so let’s prays everything goes good this week. Knock on wood!!!

Well… there’s a first time for everything. 🐣

In 16 YEARS of raising birds, we have never cracked open an egg and found a developing chick. Until today. 😳

These girls just recently started laying, and we hadn’t seen anyone sitting on the eggs, so we thought nothing of bringing them inside. Apparently, one of the ladies has been doing a little secret incubating when we weren’t looking. 🤦‍♀️

Unfortunately, the eggs had already been sitting on our counter for a few days, so there was no saving them or putting them back under a hen.

Not exactly what we planned for homeschool today, but farm life decided it was time for an impromptu lesson on chick development! 🥚➡️🐣

Apparently the farm writes its own curriculum around here. ❤️
