After working for the State government in Albany and assisting with the passage of the New York Farm Winery Bill in 1976, we decided to embark on an adventure - founding and owning our own winery. So we purchased land on the west side of Cayuga Lake, planted vines and were bonded NY Farm Winery #44 in 1982 - one of the first farm wineries in the Finger Lakes region. Seeing how the grapes are grown and made into wine can be fun as well as an education. We cultivate 11 different varieties on our estate including Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Chambourcin, Seyval Blanc, Vignoles, and Marechal Foch. Our son carries this tradition into the next generation.
