Good advice for this Arctic cold we’re having in the Northeast!

🌾 **Fueling Alpacas Through the Winter! ❄️🦙**

Cold weather means your alpacas are working harder to stay warm, and their diet needs to keep up! Boost their winter energy with high-quality forage as the foundation of their meals. For alpacas needing extra support—like pregnant, nursing, or older ones—a balanced concentrate feed can make all the difference. 🐾🍂

Keep an eye on their body condition scores to ensure they’re maintaining a healthy weight. Remember, winter isn’t the time for surprise slim-downs!

💧 Fresh water is a must, so prevent freezing with heated buckets or insulated troughs to keep them hydrated and happy. If these aren’t available, make sure to break the ice!

✅ *Pro tip:* Plan ahead for hay and feed supplies—winter shortages can catch you off guard!

As many of you know, Cross Creek Alpaca Rescue has always been committed to giving every alpaca the care, safety, and dignity they deserve. Unfortunately, I recently broke my ankle, and while I'm healing, I’m unable to stay on top of the daily work and care our herd depends on.

❤️ I want to be very clear: the Rescue is NOT closing.
But right now, we urgently need support to ensure every animal continues receiving the attention they need.

Here’s how you can help immediately:
• Adopt a few alpacas and give them a loving, permanent home
• Foster a few alpacas short-term until I’m back on my feet
• Share this post to help us reach more hearts and homes

Every single foster or adoption makes an enormous difference during this temporary challenge. If you’ve ever considered opening your home to a few of our wonderful animals, now is truly the time.

The alpacas at Shepherds Creek Alpacas will be welcoming holiday visitors to the Farm and Alpaca Shop from 11 ‘til 4 on Small Business Saturday, November 29th and Saturday December 6th and 20th (closed on Dec. 13th).
