Egg prices hit $10 a dozen last year. Americans were told that was just avian flu and basic economics. Now the Department of Justice is reportedly preparing to file an antitrust case against some of the largest egg producers.

That explanation never added up.

Farm Action began digging into the egg market in 2023 and found that dominant companies were maintaining production while sharply increasing prices and profits. We brought those findings to federal enforcers and pushed for an investigation. Less than a month after our 2025 letter, the DOJ opened one. Now it appears headed toward a lawsuit.

This isn’t just about high grocery bills. While families were paying $8 or $10 a dozen, some contract farmers were getting around 26 cents per dozen—working around the clock and seeing little of the upside.

At the same time, the federal government sent billions in taxpayer support to the largest egg companies, even as those firms posted record profits.

The question now is whether this case will actually hold dominant firms accountable—or reinforce a system where a handful of companies can raise prices during a crisis and face little consequence.

We received this message from a customer who got a quarter from us recently. It was such a kind message and it hits home on what we focus on: flavor!

You can have all sorts of certifications. But it all boils down to FLAVOR. Our practices and soil health mean greatly to us and we think that care carries over to the ground beef, steaks, roasts that you all purchase. And THANK YOU for supporting us and our farm!

With that being said, the opens on April 4th! It’ll be our tenth (!!!) season and we will have lots to offer on opening weekend. See you all soon!
