Pedicure day!!! It is very rare that our girls need a hoof trim. But the older they get, the longer some of their toes have gotten. Thankfully we have a very calm herd and a great hoof trimmer who is willing to work on beef cattle. Many hoof trimmers won’t touch beef cattle because they’re wild, big and destroy their equipment.
Fifi just needed a trim. Some how she’s not limping but her front hoof is split. Pretty bad. Split ear just needed a trim. Or so I thought. Turns out she had abscesses in both outer hind claws. Surprise! So she got some blocks to take the pressure off those. Brownie is lame and it’s due to an abscess that blew out her white line and it ain’t great news. But she was trimmed and blocked. Beef cows are pretty hearty and she may surprise is all. If she doesn’t, well, you’ll know because I’ll have burger for sale. One of the Max cows is lame in her left front and he thinks she’s got an abscess deep inside. So she was trimmed and blocked.
Blocks are epoxied on and are put on the good claw to take the weight off the bad claw. They fall off in their own time.
Fingers crossed all the ladies are feeling their best in a few days time.

Had a visitor to our “Back 40” last night while I was picking up bundles of dry square bales.
Joe flies our area a lot. He sometimes takes off and lands from the farm driveway and it’s always nice to chat. He is able to swoop VERY low with this contraption. I swear at one point I could have high 5’ed him he was so close. Here he is flying higher and avoiding the power lines.

Last day of concrete. Today the top 1/3 will be poured. Then (next week) we will remove all the bracing and forms and it will get backfilled and become a road again.
Oh, and our friend this whole week.

The bridge project continues. Our forms are starting to look very redneck at this point as we continue to add extra bracing just in case. The first pour happened today and was successful. We have the bottom third of each side poured and curing. Bracing gets changed tomorrow, more rebar will be added and we will pour the second third of the arch. 
We’ve gone through 500+ 3” timbertek screws and I bought an additional 250 4” today. 🤦🏼‍♀️.
Side note: when it is done most of the 2x4’s will be transported to Lucky 13 and will be used as perlins for new siding on the barn.
