Let’s play What Would You Do? Ruby D’s edition!

Someone comes in, orders food, sits down, eats half or more of their food, has a moment of realization (omg this place is plant based 😱) and then asks for a refund?

This happens a few times a week. Sometimes before their food is ever made. We get the shock and concern for someone that’s new to plant based. But it just feels really backwards and it’s tricky to navigate!

Someone mentioned something about a sign that says “no refunds if you didn’t realize it was plant based”

That seems so silly but do we seriously need to do that?! 😂

Pictured is onion rings because if you say onion rings people be like 😍 but if you mention that they are plant based people be like 😷

Everyone has been eating plant based foods for a really long time 😅

We’ve been going through some stressful times. Stressful customers. Some negative reviews here and there, it comes with the territory. Although we do our best to think professionally and take it with a grain of salt, the negative still can get in our heads and hurt our hearts. We are so incredibly passionate about what we do and we pour our souls into this business. To see your words- golly it’s just a big breathe of fresh air!

We too have extremely picky (and vegetarian) kids. To be able to create something the entire family loves…. Gahhhh that’s just a huge dream come true for us!

We’ve been getting a good amount of negative feedback on our BLT lately. And we feel it’s really important to share why it is designed the way it is….

Once upon a time…
We found this truly wonderful sandwich bread that was gluten-free. We really wanted to use it to make some safe gluten-free sammies and we had this delicious Umaro bacon at the time so we thought why not make A BLT.

It was really important to us to design a few sandwiches that were already gluten-free by default to eliminate any possible confusion or contamination. A safe sandwich. We eventually added the patty melt to the “Toasters” for that same reason. Always gluten free.

Shortly after we rolled out the BLT, Umaro was becoming increasingly difficult to keep in stock. Eventually they went out of stock entirely to grow their business. So we had to find a replacement. The new bacon we brought in was Beleaf and not gluten free. We did not want to take any chances whatsoever that a gluten free diner, that had come to understand the BLT sandwich had always been safe for them, now had to be modified and not aware. So we switched to bacon bits to ensure the BLT remained safe. Which are much more expensive. But we do not pass that cost onto you. We take it as a temporary loss to keep the sandwich at the same price as well.

If you would like Beleaf bacon strips on your BLT, you can absolutely do so. But you will have to order over the phone or in person. We do this just to be extra careful that there is no confusion and no mistakes being made.
Our peoples safety and comfort is extremely important to us!

In the meantime we are awaiting the return of that delicious, salty, gluten free Umaro bacon. We have already ordered several cases that keep getting pushed back from weeks to now months.

A lot of people don’t like the bits! I get it… they are not traditional for the sandwich. But at the end of the day, we’d rather get a bad review or two than make anyone sick! Thanks for the understanding! And we will send out an alert when we get Umaro back 🫶🏼
