Weā€™ve been redoing fences and excavating some areas of our farm the past few days. Weā€™ve started finding some pretty neat little treasures along the way. We found an old Pepsi-Cola bottle from the 1950s and a rusty Budweiser can from around the same era.

Our house wasnā€™t built until the 70ā€™s so finding things like this really makes you wonder what was here before us and what stories this land holds from all those years ago.

I canā€™t wait to one day display finds like these in our farm store. A little pieces of history that helps tell the story of this place and reminds us that this land had a life long before it was ours.

These girls donā€™t know what to think about me yet. They were pasture cows out in Wyoming so Iā€™m not sure if they will ever like me but Iā€™m sure gonna give it a shot!

I love Normande cattle so much because they are amazing for milk AND meat. This group is the start of our meat herd but I will be pulling some for milk as well.

Weā€™ve been very busy on the farm lately. We trenched water down from our well to all of our animal enclosures/barn, trenched power to all of our animal enclosures, cleared off a little hill where we plan to build our farm store, put in a flag pole for our Elm Valley Farm flag so people can find us, and learning how to juggles the milk cow life with a newborn. We have so much work to do but every day we are making progress!
