Happy Sunday! A little food for thought. 💭

I’m apart of some farm stand and cottage law pages. For the most part it’s very uplifting and encouraging. A post this morning caught my eye though, so I want to talk about a bit.

Someone was simply inquiring about the proper cottage laws on home bakers and farm stands. They were asking for clarification because they see people get away with all sorts of things. I felt the post was not a simple inquisition, but more trying to see if their local competitors were in the wrong.

Makes me really think of the intention behind opening farm stands. Is it not to provide consumers with the upmost quality of food items because unfortunately most grocery stores can’t be relied on anymore for that? We hear of food borne illnesses and improper handling of food more from restaurants people eat at than farm stands or cottage bakers. Big name grocery stores are selling produce that has been sprayed with chemicals, every week another article pops up about another produce company that has used a chemical that causes cancer, and don’t get me started on the “conspiracy theory” of produce sprayed with apeel to make produce “last longer”.

Our farmers, homesteaders, gardeners, and farm stand owners are working to provide consumers with quality products, while the ones implementing our laws and regulations about how we handle food are the same ones poisoning us!

My point is, instead of pointing at the thorns in each other’s operations- let’s come together to fight the same cause. Let’s support one another. There is room for us all! Instead of worrying about what your fellow competitor in this industry is doing, let’s remember who the real “competitor” here is.

I promise you the vendors in the CCH Silo Farm Stand put quality at the forefront in their products. And I know many around us feel the same about that. I support many local farm stands around too. Today, we visited the cutest little farm stand in the Ft. Cobb area. Picture of it posted. 😉

Receiving messages like this will never get old. If you don’t message, then I’ll never know. This fuels my fire. Makes me so happy to continue doing what I love. Replacing toxic retail items with non toxic ….AND it actually works!!!

Mosquito and tick repellent spray has been restocked today too! The key ingredient to the tick repellent is geranium. Ticks just hate it! But the other oils also deter mosquitos too. So that makes the tick repellant kind of a 2 in 1! 😉

Let’s have a Friday chit chat to highlight a couple of vendors!

This week my family ventured into Chickasha, making a stop by Langhorst Natural Farms. If you haven’t heard of them then you’ll want to keep reading. Their main focus is quality for their family and for you. They raise grass fed and grass finished, and organic soy free grain finished beef that provides holistic primal ground beef and holistic ground beef. They provide quality chicken cuts and eggs too with their pasture raised organic soy free chicken. Just when you go wow…I also want to tell you that they have a small herd of dairy cows that provide delicious creamy milk that will confirm all your curiosities with wanting to stop buying store bought milk. 😋

When Audra isn’t working on the farm, she is a RN in ICU/ER/house supervisor at a hospital. Two days a week you will find her at a clinic in town doing ultrasounds, pregnancy testing, and lactation support at a place that is 100% faith based and donor funded making services free for those that need it.

The most important role Audra has though, is being mama to 4 handsome little boys! She works hard to mange it all. And she does it well. She is the type of woman that will advocate for you and give you all the support. I know first hand as Coal Creek Holler was one of the first vendors in her adorable farm stand on their land. The moment I mentioned opening one in Tuttle, she was ready to provide me with answers to any questions I had. A few of the amazing silo vendors are stared between Coal Creek Holler and Langhorst Natural Farms.

That leads me to also tell you about Trinity Farmstead. They have partnered with Audra and own Healthy Roots Homestead Supply. Kristie and Audra are the kind of neighbors everyone dreams about. They truly are community with the way they work together and help each other out with their farms. It was a pleasure to see Trinity Farmstead and chat with Kristie. She was so warm and welcoming. Like someone you meet and immediately feel like you are family. Kristie provides the colloidal silver, simmer pots, and freeze dried goodies in the silo! Kristie has lots of other specialties though. My family and I got to meet the goats that supply the most delicious goat milk. Kristie also has a huge garden that doesn’t get sprayed with anything. It is just pure, delicious goodness and quality that is hard to come by these days.

If things continue to move forward as we hope then we may be able to provide goat and cow milk to you through the silo by the end of the year. 🥛

Thanks for reading! I can’t continue to cultivate these relationships without sharing their stories. I truly have some amazing vendors and together we will continue to try to do amazing things in the community.
