Double M Bees

That’s a hell of a way to find out you blew an O-ring on your valve 🙄

While on our extended hiatus, we were still tending the bees.

This year I needed a better idea for feeding the bees in the fall. The plan was to get an IBC tote that holds 250 gallons but that was a bit overkill for this year and required buying even more equipment, like pumps.

I just decided to go get a 50 gallon barrel with a spigot and fill it full of sugar water. It worked perfectly and allowed me to feed all the hives quickly.

Ingenuity! 🤣

Facebook says it’s been 39 days since we’ve last posted but I say it hasn’t been long enough. 🤣

It’s good timing to make a return! We’re back to stocking creamed honey in farm stands since the weather is cooling off!

Available at Twin Acres Farm in 10oz jars:
Cinnamon Creamed honey
Espresso Creamed Honey
Peanut Butter Creamed Honey
Lemon Creamed Honey
Chocolate Creamed Honey 🆕
*Each creamed honey jar is $10*

This time around we decided to place 10oz jars of creamed. The idea is to allow you to try different flavors without having to commit to larger jars. Let us know what you think!

Just so you’re all aware…

After a couple week hiatus, we’re back… kinda!

We’ve still been quietly working behind the scenes filling orders. Today is the first day we visited hives in approximately 2-3 weeks. It’s kind of a lull period before we start collecting honey boxes and extracting before the weather turns on us.

It’s been a wild and weird season that’s for sure. Some hives have multiple boxes of honey and some are strong hives just no collected honey. It’s a bitter sweet situation because the hives that haven’t stored honey for us have stored about 50 # of honey for themselves. All that means is we don’t get that honey to provide for you but we also don’t have to feed those hives nearly as much this fall which can be quite costly.

Here’s a picture of a late August brood pattern on a hive that didn’t want us to have the honey.
