We had the joy of being part of this beautiful couple’s love story! I cannot wait to see the photos but first the love story and how we got to the sweetest day ever!!
Oscar & Lauren Marrufo
5/9/26
The Beginning:
12 years ago our mothers introduced us, thinking Lauren might be a good influence and friend to Oscar (who really didn’t need any more friends because everyone loves him). They got along immediately and, after a few months, he asked her out. He knew she was the one, it took her a little longer to come around (she said no). They stayed in touch over the years and reconnected in 2023. They have been laughing and in love ever since! She’s the apple to his peanut butter, he’s the racoon to her possum dumpster dive.
The Proposal!
Oscar recreated their first date at Grandscape in The Colony. Lauren is obsessed with escape rooms so he took her back to her happy place. Her best friend was in town visiting, so he used that to his advantage, suggesting that they take her friend to her first escape room. On the way, Lauren happened to invite her brother and his girlfriend. Together, they all completed (and won) the escape room, then went for a walk under the light tunnel where he got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. No hesitation this time - she immediately said yes!
Why Sweet Promise?
Aside from being a phenomenal deal, we fell in love with the beautiful venue, sweet donkeys, and incredibly kind owners! Renee and Joe absolutely make a huge difference - we love supporting and working with good people!
The moments you imagine will be the sweetest?
Saying I do and celebrating with those we love. And miniature donkeys….
Fun Fact about the wedding Planning:
Lauren and Oscar are from North DFW and chose to have a destination wedding at Sweet Promise Farm!
Advice for future couples?
Lean on those you love, be patient, communicate, and find the joy. What’s meant to be will find a way, just like the Jurassic Park dinosaurs. Marry your best friend!
Thank you Oscar and Lauren for trusting us! I am so glad you were an SPF couple and then became our friends!
