Good Rose Homestead

Good Rose Homestead Welcome to our little homestead. We raise beautiful blue laced and splash laced Wyandotte, along with standard size Polish chickens.

Our birds are raised the natural way, with lots of love, fresh air, organic non medicated feed.

I am just in love with these little tolbunts ❤️ Today they had show pro breeder supplement mixed in with their chick starter and some hard boiled egg with raw beef liver. They loved it!

I want to give a huge shoutout to Hoods Hatching Eggs!

I bought Tolbunt Polish hatching eggs from her after having the WORST luck with shipped eggs this season. At that point I was frustrated, discouraged, and honestly questioning if I even wanted to keep trying shipped eggs.

I messaged her, she had eggs available, sent me her Venmo, I paid, and she shipped them right out with tracking information. The eggs arrived on time, packaged beautifully, and every single egg made it here unscathed.

After all my bad luck this season, I went full research mode. I watched countless YouTube videos, read breeder websites for hatching tips, bought a new incubator (MaticoopX 20), and had it running for days before the eggs even arrived so I could test and stabilize the humidity first.
Once the eggs arrived, I unpacked them and let them rest pointy side down for a few hours before setting them in the incubator.

Then came the hardest part… LEAVING THEM ALONE. 😂
No candling. No obsessively staring at them. No opening the incubator. I just let them do their thing for 18 days.

At lockdown I raised the humidity. It climbed a little too high to 79%, so I adjusted it back down to 71%.
Now for the exciting update… I have 12 chicks hatched out of the 13 eggs so far! 🎉🐥

After the horrible shipped egg luck I had earlier this season, I honestly could not be happier with this hatch.
She was so easy to work with, and I would absolutely recommend Hoods Hatching Eggs. Go follow her page and show her some love! 🖤🐣

Cuteness overload warning!
At just 5 weeks and 3 days old, these two buff Polish babies are already serving major hair goals and attitude.
One looks like she’d like to speak to the manager because breakfast was three minutes late.
Equal parts adorable, dramatic, and slightly judgmental.
I mean… can you even stand the cuteness? Because I sure can’t. 🥹💛🐣

You opened the brooder flap and triggered a full chick inspection.

The Wyandottes are 4 weeks old now. The polish are 5 weeks old. My splash babies are huge. Look at them next to the polish. Huge! When it’s feeding time they turn on beast mode. Don’t put your hand in there or it’s fair game.
