Maple syrup season occured on more traditional dates this year.
We made some excellent amber and dark syrup.
We still have a good supply of syrup to sell, although most of the amber has already been sold.
Best phone number to call and place an order is 413-243-3002.
Our business number 413-243-3237 has an answering machine located at the farm and not presently at our home. Response time will be better calling the 3002 line.
Thanks
Hope to see you soon

Tapping for maple syrup season has begun at Crystal Brook Farm. The woods are covered with snow and the days are starting to get longer. This view down McCarty Rd shows freshly tapped maples with the wind whipping snow off the tops of nearby pine trees.

Our first post about our CSA answered the questions: Do you value high quality, nutrient-dense vegetables with real flavor? Do you want to taste and use new veg

What does this weather mean for the Massachusetts maple season? It means that many of our sugarmakers are getting a well-deserved break while the trees enjoy the deep freeze and get ready to release more sap. Most producers have made a good crop already, and once the next thaw begins they will be ready to make even more. How does sap flow work? Check out this great diagram!

We learned so much from Jorik Philips from Hudson Valley Bee Supply a couple weeks ago. We're still reviewing our notes and making plans for our hives for Spring. Thank you Berkshire Botanical Garden for hosting such great lecture series!
