What does buying a 1/4 or 1/2 beef really look like—and is it worth it? 🥩
We love helping families fill their freezers with whole, half, and quarter beef shares—but a lot of people wonder what that actually looks like.
We just had a beef processed in March, so I wanted to show you a real-life breakdown of what you get when you buy in bulk from us.
⸻
💰 How pricing works
We sell based on hanging weight — that’s the animal after it’s been harvested, skinned, and cleaned.
Why this matters:
Some sellers use live weight, which can include extra water/feed weight. Selling on hanging weight keeps it honest and consistent for everyone.
👉 Our price: $5.30/lb hanging weight
👉 Processing & delivery INCLUDED
⸻
🔪 You choose your cuts
Once your beef goes to the butcher, they’ll contact you directly to customize your order.
It’s simple:
• Steak thickness (we recommend 1¼ inch)
• Roast preferences
• Brisket (whole or ground)
• How much ground beef vs cuts
You get it exactly how you want it.
⸻
📦 Real example (March beef)
• Hanging weight: 792 lbs
• Total cost: $4,197.60
Take-home beef: 481.78 lbs
That comes out to:
👉 $8.71/lb in your freezer
⸻
🥩 What that looked like:
• Ribeyes – 27.11 lbs
• Filets – 2.76 lbs
• T-Bones – 28.69 lbs
• Sirloins – 19.29 lbs
• Skirt – 4.6 lbs
• Flank – 2.9 lbs
• Tri Tip – 5.2 lbs
• Brisket – 17.94 lbs
• Chuck Roast – 50.1 lbs
• Arm Roast – 22.68 lbs
• Minute Steak – 22.98 lbs
• Sliced Round – 7.53 lbs
• Ground Beef – 270 lbs
Bonus:
✔ 30–40 lbs beef fat
✔ 10+ lbs soup bones
⸻
📊 Why Bulk Beef
You’re getting beef that is:
✔ Home-raised
✔ Non-GMO grain fed
✔ More tender
✔ Fully customizable
…and currently about $500–$700 cheaper per head than grocery store prices.
⸻
⚠️ Heads up
If market prices keep climbing, we will have to raise our price above $5.30/lb hanging weight. Right now, we’re still holding steady.
⸻
If you’ve been thinking about filling your freezer, now is a great time to order!
