Was looking through photos today at my Nonno’s house to pull for his 100 birthday celebration next weekend and came across these gems….HOW COOL to see your Italian grandparents in Japan in 1988!! My old school Nonna Pompea using chopsticks and all 🥢

In the 1980’s Nonno’s brother was working in Japan for a few years so they went out a took a big trip to visit them.

One of the most memorable meals I’ve recently had was at a pintxos bar in San Sebastián …

Yes, the food was incredible and I mean truly incredible (the tortilla was unfortunately really all that…and yes we had others on the trip to compare it to), but more than that it was the experience. The staff was so kind and felt like family by the end, the fellow diners who became friends.

Just three girls standing by the bar and having an experience of a lifetime. ❤️

My go to dish when I’m cooking for a crowd will always be a pasta al forno 👌🍝❤️

Comment “PASTA” or “RECIPE” and I’ll send you my ricotta sauce pasta al forno recipe!!!

This is the base recipe I go off of every time I make pasta al forno. Sometimes I don’t have all ingredients and that’s okay. It’s the kind of dish that you can make do with what you’ve got as long as you have a good base recipe.

My version of a spring chicken is a crispy citrus-herb chicken thighlet with a bright snap pea salad on top

It’s simple, fresh, and exactly what I want to be eating this time of year… crunchy, lemony, a little herby, and super satisfying

Comment SPRING or RECIPE and I’ll send you the full recipe 💛

Tonight I turned my NYC apartment into my own version of Restaurant Wars from Top Chef.

I created a one-night pop-up, Kika, built a three-course menu, and somehow became executive chef, front of house, and line cook all at once?!

Now I fully understand… it’s not just about the food, it’s everything.

Judges’ table was not easy either!! 😅
Watch Restaurant Wars on Top Chef and tell me… could you handle it?

Today’s reminder that you can do HARD THINGS!!! 👏👏👏Today I ran my first half marathon. Over the past few months I have been consistently training alongside my incredible fiancé who was dedicated to sticking by my side (when he surly could run faster)!

Running doesn’t come easy to me. 6 months ago I watched the NYC marathon live for the first time and was so inspired. I went for a 3 miles run a few days later and was absolutely breathless. Today I ran 13.1 without stopping once in 2 hours and 30 minutes. I am proud of myself for proving that when I set to my mind to something I can do it. We can do hard things, when we set our mind to it! This a mental reminder that when life gives you challenging things, you can handle it.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say there were hard moments in the process. But when things got hard, I continued to remind myself one of my favorite quotes “You don’t have to, you get to.” It is a blessing to have a body that is physically able to do things like run marathons. I’m so grateful. 🥹

P.s. huge shoutout to the most supportive cousin & bestie who came out and gave us the bursts of energy and support to keep going ❤️

You may not know it, but there’s probably a really good pasta sitting in your pantry right now…

Welcome to my new series, Pantry Pastas where I show you how to turn a few staples into something that actually feels intentional.

Starting with my take on Pasta con le Sarde, layered, flavorful, and proof that you don’t need a lot to make something really good.

Comment PASTA or RECIPE and I’ll send you the recipe 🤍
