We are excited to share that are grass-fed and grass finished steer (Black Angus) are ready for processing next week. Our ten head of cattle are raised on our farm in West Virginia.
About our cattle:
All of our cattle are raised and grown naturally on our farm. Entirely grass fed and given a mineral buffet to ensure optimal health. Our cattle have not been given any hormones, steroids, growth implants or any unnecessary antibiotics. Additionally, our cattle drink spring water.
We will offer whole, half and quarter shares. Price for 2021, per pound based on hanging weight:
$5.00 – whole steer
$5.25 – half steer
$5.00 – quarter steer
*Hanging weight is defined as the weight of the carcass after the hide, head and some organs have been removed. The actual meat you receive is typically sixty percent of the hanging weight. For example - A 1,200 pound animal would have a hanging weight of 720 pound (estimated). Based on a hanging weight of 720 pounds, the whole steer would yield about 430 pounds of beef, a half steer would yield about 215 pounds and a quarter steer would yield 108 pounds.
Generally a variety of these cuts are included when purchasing a share of beef: Ribeye, T-Bone, Brisket, Sirloin, Ribs, Cube Steak, Stew Meat, Tip Roast, Chuck Roast, Burger.
You are more than welcome to pick up your share directly from the beef processor in West Virginia or we will deliver for a moderate fee.
