Mr. Rooster took this photo of the moon rising across the road from us at his parents’ home a few nights ago. We’ve been out working past dark the last couple of weeks to catch up on some work around here.

What is that? It looks like a tiny cocoa colored dog glued to my chicken coop. When I touched it (‘cause it looks furry so I had to) it disintegrated to powder. Turns out, it’s a type of slime mold that is not slimy. At least not at this point. I’m such a nerd with stuff like this. 🤦‍♀️

Princess Puff has her five littles out and about. When they are not tearing up my bee balm, they are playing in the shade of the fig tree beside their coop. Can you tell Bruster the light Brahma has been visiting with the ladies in this coop? All these little white chicks! 😂

The baby birds in the wreath on the front door have hatched! I caught mama bird feeding them today. 💜🥰

I love this thicket of mimosa surrounding the dog kennels. It makes for a very cool shady spot and it smells like heaven. When we were little, my sister and I made one of these trees our clubhouse. It was a small tree with branches that touched the ground. It grew up right against our house and it made the perfect little “room” for us. I would haul a bag of Dr. Suess and Little Golden Books under it everyday and when it got too hot to play, we would crawl under that tree and I would read to her. Sometimes we napped there. We were fascinated by the leaves that would shrink and close up if you touched them. Such sweet memories. 🥰

This reel was shot during yesterday’s thunderstorm when I got trapped in the coop next door. The guineas stayed much drier than I did.

Please excuse my butchering of this Elvis song while I’m stuck in a chicken coop during a storm. 😂🐓

We finally found a nest and decided we wanted to hatch a few guinea eggs since a couple of ours left home. Well, I got my incubator out to get it ready and this little heifer decided she was going to sit on them herself. And the other hen is still laying her eggs there. They dug a hole to make their nest when they started laying here so the eggs are stacking up. At this rate, she will have a tower of eggs under her soon.
