STAR-STUDDED GATHERING - Friday evening, The Pour Farm hosted the world premiere of the latest Williams-Thombs film project, "Bury Me Beside My Friends," in the fashion-forward setting of the brewery production floor.
Following the customary red carpet photo shoot (for which the brewery has justly earned the esteem of beatniks, bohos, hippies, and punks alike), the attendees nestled in to watch the movie, projected on a stylishly understated queen-size bed sheet.
The film itself synthesizes elements of great the American road story: Huck Finn (1884) goes On The Road (1957) and Travels with Charley (1962), inspired by the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test (1968). The film makers circumscribe their own telling to the bogways, hilltops, and power line corridors of midcoast Maine.
At the final curtain, the audience could barely contain its enthusiasm. Thunderous applause rocked the b**r house tanks and agitated its mash beyond sensibility.
It is this reviewer's opinion that the upstart directors are bound to reshape American cinema. Just as soon, The Pour Farm will doubtless claim its place among the major American centers for the performing arts.
