Howdy folks! Long time- no post!
Appreciate you sticking with us!
Just a tiny farm update:
Since we are expecting a new little farmer in August, this year might not be as progressive as last years!

We hope to have some Cochin mix eggs on the bator by next week .
And maybe some turkey eggs by the following week!
*I followed one our sweet grass hens to her nest this morning and found her first eggs ever and they also happen to be the first turkey eggs of the year! So of course I snapped a pic of them! See below!

We also had a new addition join us a week ago! Momma Laena and baby Baela are doing great!

And then there were two.

It has been an insanely frustrating experience rehoming these bundles of love and chaos. Too many drives, rude or stupid people, and work after work finding loving homes but it’s been worth it. If anyone would like to save me from general society and give one (or two 😬) of these sweet hearts a home send me or KaLynne Jordon Hall a message for more info. We have them posted far and wide so (hopefully) time is short.

Like father like son!! Any guesses as to which one is our original Daemon and which one is DJ (Daemon Jr.) ??😂😂

We welcomed a new Silkie baby this afternoon!! All our fancy pen hens are broody so hoping to see more babies soon!! (Then we can finally clean out nesting boxes 😅)

Our silver laced Wyandotte hen, Lacey, made her nest right in doorway and we just let her sit. Bed time check led me to find a new baby! She has gathered a few of the other hens eggs but this one came from one of her own eggs! 🥰

It is with a heavy heart that we are going to be taking a pause in operations and reducing our flocks down drastically. We have appreciated everyone's support and business the last year, more than you know. Seeing our birds going to loving homes to grow and thrive has been the greatest joy.

Unfortunately we realized today that the mental, financial and emotional toll of hatching and raising so many birds has become too much to bear while also working our weird schedules without outside the home help. We also truly love all of these birds and feel each loss deeply, whether our own ignorance or from "farm life".

This is not goodbye. We live where we do and commute 150 miles each day so we could have our own farm and run our own business as a family. We're going to take some time to shore up our infrastructure and build up our bank for next season.

Please keep an eye on this page over the next couple of weeks. We will be posting who will be up for discussion. Please note that our prices are going to be overly fair (as usual hence the financial pain😆) but we will NOT let a single bird go to a home that we are uncomfortable with. These aren't freezer camp birds, all of them are named by us and most were originally intended to be a part of our family and flock foundations. Please don't message asking for specific breeds until we post up who is available.

Thank you everyone for your support and understanding in this extremely difficult time. It has truly been one of the greatest joys in our lives to meet you, share our love of birds and help you build your own flocks.

Here’s some of our somewhat recent hatches finally graduating from the brooder. We’ve got some of our popular frizzled Serama (2 hen and one roo) a Calico Serama x Cochin hen, and some of our Sumatra. In the group pic we have some RIR x Brahma and a couple more Sumatra plus a Royal Palm because we have them everywhere 😂

We’re back!! Update from our post regarding our favorite girl we lost, Blizzard. We incubated all of the eggs we had from her on hand (24) even though we knew at least 20 were too old to be expected to hatch. 7 made it to lockdown after a reduced candling schedule and of those 7, we hatched 6 including the egg she gave her life for (first picture). They’ll be moved to our brooder this morning so standby for clearer pictures! Thank you everyone for your kind words and advice, we’ve since reinforced our free range area and have a camera setup.
