SAD NEWS 😞 Unfortunately none of the eight piglets that Lit’le Sis gave birth to were viable. Only one of the piglets was a fully formed, but unfortunately had passed in utero. All the other fetus’s were not fully developed and came out “mummified” (encased in placenta).😢

Fortunately! Lit’le Sis is doing very well. She has a good appetite & is drinking water. She has passed both of her placentas and even though her labor was 20 hours long, she did great through it. Don’t think we’d be able to bear losing her too at the moment!

Shoutout to our vet that we called numerous times through the night (0100, 0230 & 0400), alleviated my fears of her going “septic”, and reassured me that nature & Litl’le Sis were doing ok. We are still unsure of the “why” for the mummified piglets (SO MANY Variables!) and we think the fully formed piglet was in the birth canal too long (2hours) and died from asphyxiation.
So send Lit’le Sis your ❤️ and healing vibes, ‘cause I think she’s sad, I know We are!

Unloaded the from our livestock trailer…Solo. It’s a process that I usually have another person helping me. But the few times I have done it by myself, it definitely goes quicker and is less stressful when things go wrong. .

Moved into their extended pasture area. Took about 20 mins total which is typical. I don’t mind that they take a while to move because: I like that they associate me with new, fresh pasture & shows they really do respect the fence line. .
On another note…I’m thinking about offering “Sponsor a Pig” opportunities. Having different levels of sponsorship = different gifts/personalized videos from the pig. Sponsorship would help me reach my farm goals of enriching their pastured areas by planting fruit and nut trees and nutrient-dense forage seed. Let me know your thoughts on this. Just putting it out to there! .

On my day off when it was nice out did some rebuilding of pig pens… they were “escaping” into the people area of the barn.

Lit’le Sis was snoozing hard in the sunshine this morning! But she got up pretty quickly when she realized breakfast was being delivered 😁

Lit’le Sis is on-the-fence with this mercurial weather. BUT she ALWAYS ❤️’s eating her and saying Hi!
