For years, I've dreamed of creating a way to recognize the people who quietly make a difference in the lives of others.

The teacher who stays late.
The nurse who never stops caring.
The bus driver who knows every child's name.
The janitor who always has a smile.
The volunteer who shows up every time.
The neighbor who helps everyone and asks for nothing in return.

These people deserve to be seen.

Starting today, Honey's Healthy Hive Local Heroes is accepting nominations from anywhere in the United States.

Each month, we'll choose a Local Hero to receive a special gift as a small thank-you for the kindness, service, and heart they bring to their community.

But the gift isn't the most important part.

I burned the popcorn tonight, which meant I had to stand by the stove and actually pay attention for once. 😅

While I was standing there, I found myself staring at this old metal pot holder I inherited from my grandma. It says:

"Come in, sit down, converse. Our house doesn't always look like this. Sometimes it's even worse."

And honestly, it still sounds exactly like something she'd say.

It's funny how the things we hold onto aren't always the expensive things. Sometimes it's the quirky kitchen decorations, handwritten recipes, old coffee mugs, or little signs that carry a person's personality long after they're gone.

Maybe that's why I keep this on my stove. Every time I see it, I think of her, and all the memories that come with her.
