With all that rain we haven't had time to prune the bottom leaves of our tomato plants. Heirloom tomatoes can become bush like fast. We prune out the bottom leaves to help with air flow and prevent disease. It's hot outdoors, but early morning farm work doesn't bother us too much. FYI! These pruners are the best we've purchased. Watch you fingers though. They are very sharp and can nip you if you're not careful!

We're replanting some of our seedlings until one of our new planting areas is ready.🌱 Alex repurposed some pallets we had and built this HUGE planting table!👀 It gives us plenty of space to replant 100's of plants and we use it for our gardening classes too!👩🏽‍🌾

As some of you may know, we're trying to get into the cut flower game.🌻🌸🌼 We can say that we've had some struggles, especially because of DEER!🦌 As soon as our plants get growing pretty well, the deer eat them or pull them up.😡 So we've covered them until they get more established. I tell ya...nothing is truly deer resistant. We've learned that over the years!🫤

This is how we used to grow carrots!🥕 (1st pic) We haven't quite gotten our soil right to get that type of harvest since we've moved to this property.🫤 We're going to keep trying & hopefully the next one will be great.🤞🏽At least what we are harvesting is sweet!😋

This is our last HUGE head of romaine lettuce that was growing in our hoop house!🥬 It was just about to bolt. This lettuce did not get bitter even with temps getting 100+ degrees numerous days in there!

As I was preparing to take plants to our school & community gardens, I found one of our favorite things we like to see & hear on the farm. Do you see it?👀 It's a frog!🐸 What kind of critters do you enjoy seeing at your place?

We have enjoyed working on our community garden the past few weeks!🌱 Our old raised beds were untreated wood, so they began to rot. Now it's better, brighter, & colorful!🌞 It looks so much better! We look forward to seeing the plants grow & produce to feed to community!🍅🌽🫑🥒
