Sometimes supporting local starts with simply knowing who’s here.

Earlier this summer, The Farmer’s Feed featured Keisha Hensley of Mother's Homemade and Greenwood Acres in Rock Hill, sharing the story behind her farm, her business, and her mission to keep the Southern tradition of chow chow alive.

Beth Black White of Black's Peaches in York saw the video and realized she didn’t know about Keisha’s business.

So she reached out.

Within a week, Mother’s Homemade Chow Chow was on the shelves at the Black’s Peaches farm stand. Less than a month later, they were already restocking.

It’s a great example of what can happen when we make our local farmers, food makers, and businesses more visible.

A story from Rock Hill created a new connection in York. One local business gained another place to sell its products. Another added a York County-made product to its shelves. And customers now have another way to support local.

As Keisha says, “Collaboration over competition.”

That’s what building a stronger local community looks like.
