The NJLBA is a statewide trade association representing onpremises licenses,educating and advising its membership as to proper and profitable trade practices.

1918 to 1933 was a bleak, “dry” time for America. No one truly believed that a small group of Prohibitionists could change the social customs of a nation. With the stroke of a pen, over 600,000 businesses were closed and millions of people

were unemployed. The neo-prohibitionists of the twenty-first century have the same agenda as their predecessors namely to lower the blood alcohol content to the point where not even one drink is acceptable if you are going to drive. NJLBA, on a 24/7 schedule, is fighting to protect the interest of the on-premise licensed beverage retailer, the heart of the hospitality industry. Without the watchful eye of our Association, over 100 pieces of Legislation and numerous regulations would have been enacted last year making it harder to do business in New Jersey. The suspension of the Special Occupational Tax (SOT) the check for $250 that you send to the ATF every July is an example of the strength that an organization brings to the table. The annual membership dues of $225, is an investment in your business that will pay handsome dividends in keeping your livelihood growing. Our Allied Member program provides our membership exclusive discounts on products and services that are constantly used on a daily basis. Our nationally recognized Techniques of Alcohol Management™ (TAM™) education seminar trains personnel on how to best serve adult alcoholic beverages. Our Scholarship Foundation awards two annual scholarships to deserving students. Do your part and join the team today! Congratulations to our 2026 Wellhofer Scholarship Winners!

The New Jersey Licensed Beverage Association is proud to congratulate Maddie Gigante and Alex Gillin on being selected as this year’s scholarship recipients!

Maddie Gigante graduated from Kinnelon High School and will be attending Penn State University. Maddie is the daughter of David Gigante, owner of The Osprey in Manasquan.

Alex Gillin graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame and will be attending the University of Georgia. Alex is the granddaughter of Sam Sarin, owner of Victor’s Pub in Camden.

As of August 1, 2026, restaurants must comply with the new statewide requirement governing the limit of single-use utensils, plastics, straws, and condiments in an effort to reduce plastic waste.
