🍯 Honey Chili
A Hearty Chili with a Touch of Natural Honey
There’s nothing quite like a big bowl of homemade chili on a cool day. Our Honey Chili adds a special touch of natural sweetness with Alaska Heavenly Honey, creating a rich, well-balanced flavor that brings all the spices together.
The honey does not make the chili taste sweet. Instead, it helps balance the acidity of the tomatoes and adds a smooth depth of flavor that makes this chili something special.
Ingredients
2 pounds ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans (15 ounces each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
¼–½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, optional
2 tablespoons Alaska Heavenly Honey
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup beef broth or water
Directions
1. Brown the Beef
In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease if necessary.
2. Add the Onion and Garlic
Add the diced onion and cook for 4–5 minutes, or until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
3. Add the Chili Ingredients
Stir in the kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
4. Add the Honey
Stir in 2 tablespoons of Alaska Heavenly Honey.
This is the special ingredient that brings the flavors together. The honey helps mellow the tomatoes and spices while adding a subtle richness to the finished chili.
5. Simmer
Bring the chili to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 30–45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
For an even deeper flavor, allow the chili to simmer for an hour or longer.
6. Taste and Adjust
Taste before serving. Add a little more chili powder, salt, cayenne, or Alaska Heavenly Honey according to your preference.
