Now it’s on to finishing 1st cutting hay. We are thankful that corn and soybeans are in the ground and will grow to provide feed for our cows.

Scottdale Mayor Lindy House is planning a distribution for 200 families on Thursday in the Rite Aid parking lot in conjunction with the Westmoreland Food Bank for anyone affected by the recent tornadoes. Due to liability they cannot accept donations for tomorrow’s event.

We have extra Maple Bottom Farm Chickens eggs and we know that our community needs them, so we have placed a cooler at the Scottdale Public Library. We will await additional info from Lindy on any private donation events and try to help out if those are set up.

We are thankful to have a tractor that ran the generator at our house in Scottdale and to Black Diamond Equipment Rental for the generator at the farm in Dawson.

Just a reminder that any tshirt purchase from The Red Shed supports our efforts to feed our community.

We are very thankful to have power again after yesterday’s tornados. Thanks to everyone working to get things cleaned up.
If you are still without power and need ice, stop by the red shed. We have several bags in the coolers–FREE. The Red Shed is also stocked with ice cream if you are looking for a cool treat in the heat.

We want to send a thankful shout out to Black Diamond Equipment Rental for the use of a generator. We didn’t even know they were on rt 21 in Fayette County, PA. They met us after hours and got us going. The cows definitely appreciate it. Also thanks to
Keith Walters Electric for hooking up the generator at 10pm and to Kevin at Graham’s Dairy Supply for getting the robot up and running. We were fully operational at 4am. Somewhere the robot lived in a time machine and was like a Back to the Future movie. 🤷‍♀️
Our cows milk themselves 24/7/365. - But when tornadoes 🌪️ strike, it takes a team to get things going. We are thankful that it was only an inconvenience and our thoughts and prayer go out to those who had damage.

Join us in welcoming Hayden Fry as our summer intern. If you see Hayden at the farm, be sure to say hello.

Hayden says “I grew up in Muncy Pa on my families’ farms. I am attending SUNY Morrisville where I plan on obtaining a degree in Animal Science – Dairy A.A.S. and also a degree in Agribusiness Management B.B.A. . A little bit about myself; I show registered dairy cattle, I was a member of 4H, and my favorite kind of ice cream is Chocolate peanut butter cup. Some goals or things for the summer internship or I would like to learn more about, I would like to learn more about how the robot works with the dairy cattle for milking, more about selling added value product, and explore a career path I hope to go down in the future.”
Hayden has already picked Maple Bottom Vision Fruitsnack as his favorite Guernsey cow.

June is Dairy month and today we celebrate World Milk Day.
We would like to take a few minutes and introduce ourselves to those who are new to our page. Maple Bottom Farm is owned by Vickie and Mike Baker where we milk 60 Guernsey cows in a robot and work alongside our children, Lee and Clara. Our milk is processed under the Naturally Golden Family Farms brand, a small cooperative as as well as as sold to Land O Lakes. We take pride in producing Golden Guernsey dairy products including whole milk, chocolate milk, cream, butter, a variety of cheeses, drinkable yogurt, and ice cream. Our products are available for purchase at The Red Shed, our self serve on farm store located at 1119 Cunningham Bridge Rd. Dawson, Pennsylvania.
Thanks to the support of you, we are currently building a larger on farm store where we will be able to offer more products for our local community. Today we encourage you to raise a glass of cold milk and celebrate with us!

month and take you behind the scenes to learn more about our farm, our cows, our products and our family.

Summer is here, school is finished and our kids are doing what they love!!!
