Before Case “Critters and Blooms” Farm… before goat’s milk soap, charcuterie boards, and granola… there was a younger (and slightly muddier) version of me on the University of Kentucky Soil Judging Team.
That’s right — while most college kids were hitting the books, I was out digging holes… and getting graded on it. 😄. Yes I was a Varsity Athlete!
We’d study soil layers, texture, drainage — all the good stuff that determines whether crops thrive or just “hang on and hope.” Turns out, that knowledge stuck. Every egg we sell, every plant we grow, it all starts with what’s under our boots.
So if you’ve ever wondered why I get a little too excited about good dirt… now you know. Try and hold back your excitement!
Hope everyone has a great Friday — and don’t be afraid to get your hands a little dirty this weekend. 👍
