Steve Group devoted many years building the ranch and bison handling facilities that are still in use today. In March 2017, Steve decided to pass on his ranch to Jeb and Megan Pencil. "This is a homecoming for us. We both grew up in the Springfield/Urbana area and are Northwestern High School graduates. Our dream to own a farm was far surpassed by the amazing opportunity to purchase the Big Shaggy

Buffalo Ranch. We are dedicated to continuing Steve's hard work and will be delivering the same quality bison meat that our customers have grown to love. We will continue raising a healthy, antibiotic free herd. Bison meat is a lean, healthier red meat with less fat and cholesterol, as well as higher in protein than beef.
