Spring brings maintenance of the peach trees. Mike uses a hedger to cut the tops, and then we hand prune the lower limbs. We also thinned a little bloom, but the cold weather destroyed many of them. We hope to have a small crop of peaches this summer. Stay tuned! Pictures show the hedger, pruning from the Brownie lift and a tiny peach - look for the small whie ball under the bloom

Spring is here so our prep for the coming season is in full swing! The blackberries require a lot of TLC in the spring. We take off the protective cover that kept the plants healthy during the cold winter. We are thinning and training them on the trellis wires and will be positioning them horizontally prior to bloom. That allows the bloom to pop on one side of the trellis so they are easy for you to pick this summer. Bkackberries are amazing plants - they will have tremendous growth between now and July.

Pink is beautiful! We have pink peach buds! So far it's looking good for a peach crop!

It's a winter wonderland at Champaign Berry Farm! The peach trees glisten during the morning hours and the blackberries are snuggled under the cloth and snow blanket. We will monitor the peaches but the buds may be damaged by the cold temperatures. Stay safe and warm!

Just in time we covered the blackberries! We cover the blackberries to protect them from frigid temperatures so they will have a bountiful crop in 2026. The series of pictures show the process- from beautiful berries to the plants being tucked under covers for the winter. Lots of pruning and tying canes to the trellis is done after the crop is off; then we move the sandbags, spread the covers over the plants and place sandbags on both sides of the row to keep the cloth in place ( as you know we have a lot of wind at the farm. )
Thanks to our crew who did a lot of strenuous work- Aaron, Alyssa, Roy, Andrew Mike and Sammy! See you in June for raspberries and July for blackberries!

We have a very good supply of RED RASPBERRIES ready for picking! We are open Wednesday-Saturday from 12-6 or by appointment. Pick your own raspberries are $6.50 per pound; containers are furnished. We accept cash, cards, and checks. Get them before the end of the season!

Pick your own berries are $6.50 per pound and containers are furnished. We also have homegrown tomatoes, zucchini, cantaloupe, watermelons, and our delicious jams. We accept cards, cash and checks. EVERYTHING WE SELL WE GROW!

RED RASPBERRIES! Finally the red raspberries are ripe! Pick your own are $6.50 per pound and pre-picked are $16 per quart. Please order pre-picked berries.
Open Wednesday-Saturday 12-6 and other times by appointment. Call 937-232-7525 to make an appointment to pick during hours we are closed. We expect a good crop which will be on until frost.
We we continue to have excellent sweet corn, blackberries tomatoes, zucchini and melons as well as pumpkins and squash.
