Happy Earth Day! I have been fortunate enough to enjoy my Uncle Bill's lilac bush for many, many years. I have always liked how lilacs smell. There are not too many on the bush this year due to the fluctuating weather.

I apologize I haven't written anything for Seldom Home Farm lately. My health sort of went for the worse again for me with a collapsed lung plus having to move a tumor in late June. It has taken longer than I would had liked to recover. I should be able to participate up at the market on Saturdays here soon. For now I am slowly recovering what I had planted before I had to be hospitalized. I am selling here at the farm at the farm stand. I am just now starting to get some tomatoes. I will soon start having more product soon. Thank you for your understanding.

We hope everyone is staying safe. Proper social distancing even out in the middle of the field. My grandson in the middle is having so much fun playing in his dirt clod fort. Ha ha Kyle was worried he would get in the way. What 2.5 year old doesn't like to play in the dirt for hours. He had his tractors out there with him as well. We should have product in a few weeks. Stay safe.

I apologize for not being up at Market at the Square for the past two weeks. I had discovered a couple new bumps after my last surgery for breast cancer. I recently had minor surgery for two more biopsies which fortunately turned out to be negative, however, the healing process isn't going as well as the first go round of surgery. As always, I have tomatoes available for sale here at the farm 7 days a week. I should be able to start picking enough this week to bring up to market next week. Thank you for your understanding.

I have a lot of summer squash coming out of the field finally. Eating well doesn't have to cost much at all. I have a recipe I made that makes 6 of these stuffed zucchini balls with cheddar broccoli rice with onions and a lot of bacon for a little less than $12. These summer squash balls are great for Sautéed Zucchini with Parmesan or breaded fried zucchini as well. They have less seeds than a regular zucchini for the same diameter and tend not to fall apart when you cook them. I also have scalloped squash in all different colors and the balls are in green, white and yellow. Only $2 per pound.
