Blue Lagoon Brewing Co. was born from a garage, built by friendship, and brewed with the support of a whole community. Founder Mathew Woolums, a proud Vacaville native, has always been driven by hands-on passion—whether managing major construction projects, chasing surf, or perfe
cting the next great beer. In Early 2024, he and two close friends began brewing out of his garage, diving into the world of craft beer with little more than a few kettles, a lot of curiosity, and an endless appetite for experimentation. There were long days, messy brew sessions, and plenty of trial and error— but every batch brought them closer to something real. Before long, they started hosting private tap tastings events at Mathew’s home, inviting locals to try new recipes, offer feedback, and enjoy the ride with them. Those small gatherings helped shape the vision and soul of what would eventually become Blue Lagoon Brewing Co. Inspired by the legacy of Vacaville’s iconic Blue Lagoon Waterslide Park in Lagoon Valley, the name came naturally rooted in nostalgia, fun, and local pride. The goal was simple: build a brewery in the heart of Vacaville that offered bold, approachable beers, a welcoming vibe, and a place where the community could gather and none of it would have been possible without the support of the local brewing community. From early on, the team leaned heavily on the guidance of seasoned brewers. Jason at True Symmetry Brewing in Suisun opened his doors and shared his hard-earned experience— the do’s, the don’ts, and everything in between. Co-lab brew days with Solano Brewing Co. and Heretic gave hands-on experience in a commercial setting. Through Local Brew clubs Solano Garage Brewers and DOZE, the crew found mentors, fellow beer geeks, and lifelong friends who helped fine-tune their skills and processes. The collaboration and generosity from this tight-knit brewing world fueled not just their knowledge, but their confidence. Since the end of 2024, Blue Lagoon Brewing has also made it a point to give back— supporting nonprofit and community events, donating time and product to local causes, and using their beer to bring people together for more than just good times. Now, all that energy is coming to life. Set to open in Mid-August 2025 at 221 Peabody Road, Suite A, In Vacaville CA, Blue Lagoon Brewing Co. will offer a handcrafted taproom, rotating food trucks, live events, and—most importantly—great beer. Built with intention and community from day one, it’s more than a brewery. It’s a local landmark in the making. Our motto? No regrets. Just great beer, good people, and better stories
