Our family has had beef cattle in the Piedmont of North Carolina forever. Personally, we’ve been students of cattle breeding and Charolais genetics since 1980, and indirectly involved in the cattle business since 1992, working in veterinary medicine. Our little herd has been around since 2003. We’ve had some success in the show ring and in bull tests, and we’ve been honored to have our cattle sele
cted by some great Charolais breeders. We believe that any successes we’ve had are attributable to the excellent advice of our friends and our efforts to keep it simple, and rely on just a few principles:
• The customers are cow-calf producers, cattle feeders, and consumers. Calving ease, reproduction, growth, and carcass traits all matter.
• Consistency in type and pedigree is of great value. Cattle with depth of pedigree ought to be sought out and respected.
• All other things being equal, it’s more fun to breed cattle that are structurally sound and easy to look at.
