More pics of does kidding this week.

First up, Argonne’s Backwoods Barbie. Barbie kidded with quads last year, along with ketosis. This year we only saw two on her ultrasound, and no evidence of any Ketosis thus far, yay! She’s a hearty little doe, one of my largest producers too.

Next is FF MaiTai. MaiTai will be my first offspring from Kastdemur’s Vermouth to kid here, looking forward to seeing these kids.

Kidding season starts off next week, with five does scheduled to kid! Two of the five are first fresheners, so will be exciting to see what all the hard work in my breeding and maintenance program will result in.

Here’s Casa de Vista Mama Mia. Mia will be my first doe out of Argonne's Dairy Goats Magneto to kid here for me.

Mia is bred to Starlet Lace Pear Jujube.

Kidding season starts in a little less than 30 days and am excited to use Starlet Lace Pear Jujube - although he doesn't have a lot of his own data yet, his relatives are looking really impressive.

Jujube's dam, SG Starlet Lace Raider Hibiscus, was Ex 90 VEEE as a 2yr old milking through from her yearling lactation. She has positive production PTAs including +6.5 in fat and +6.1 in protein. She is ranked 93 percentile for lamanchas. Jujube's sire, Clovertop's Prickley Pear, has positive production PTA and type PTA. Combined his PTI is in the top 92% for lamanchas. His daughter was breed leader in 2020 and with strong 2021 lactations on several daughters there is hope for more breed leaders. Of his 4 daughters appraised, two had a final score of excellent with an average final score of 89.3. All his daughters scored excellent in mammary.

Jujube's full sister, Starlet Lace Pear Lucerne, milked 2910lb as a first freshener with 97lb of fat and 82lb of protein. Her percentile ranking is 92% in lamanchas. She scored VEEE 88 this September as a first freshener. Lucerne's daughter, Olive, is already milking nearly 7lbs at just a month fresh.

I have bred Jujube to four does this year, planned genetics to follow.

Unfortunately with the recent Covid surge and new guidance from campus, Goat Day 2022 will be virtual. After much discussion we are offering a three part program (Jan 29th, Feb 2nd, Feb 5th).

The upside is we'll have a little more time to dive deeper into our topics and the chance to answer your questions. More details coming Monday but mark your calendars!

Registration will be free. For those who already registered and paid for the in-person event you will be receiving refunds.

PH Mary Louise, going on 7 years old, set herself up so nicely during this morning’s milking.

Good breeding and good maintenance go hand in hand in my opinion, both of which are on display here in this doe. These are the results I strive for in my breeding program, a goat that holds up, and even continues to improve.

Excited to announce the addition of a new herd sire: Meraki VG Nereus

Dam: SGCH FGF5 CKMP Dazzlin' Diva 1*M EX91 VEEE

His dam, Dazzlin' Diva was 3rd place at the 2016 Nationals as an intermediate kid and at the 2021 Nationals, placed 8th as a 5 yr old, and averaged almost 12 lbs a day on DHIR as a 3 yr old, she is now a 5 yr old and still keeps up on her production.

2021 was definitely a doe year for me, and I have finally figured out who is making the cut! 😄

Thus, I have some doe kids from a variety of genetics, available and looking for a new herd.

Clean tested herd. Contact me for further discussion if you have any interest.

Update: Sold.

Available milker looking for new herd. Located in Southern California.

Blue Moon Ranch Lush. 2yr/2F.

If you want a doe you can show but also puts milk in the pail, here you go. A doe with bone and depth of body. A mammary system with balance and symmetry, with foreudder that nicely blends into barrel. Was recently appraised with an LA score of: VEEE90

Lush’s 2021 DHIA monthly milk weights:

April: 10.98 lbs
May: 12.8 lbs
June: 12.8 lbs

While I have only been able to show once this year, Lush did quite well at a show last month. Below are her results:

Ring 1, Dan Greene. 4th place 2 year old out of class of 12.

Ring 2, Dan Laney. 2nd place 2 year old out of class of 12.

Ring 3, Mark Baden. 2nd place 2 year old out of class of 12.

Lush is super easy to milk, via hand or machine, great manners, not skittish or stomping. She blends well with the herd, great temperament with no diva attitude. Has kidded twice, no problems.

Sold.

Argonne’s Magneto. Registered, purebred Lamancha buck looking for new herd.

Dam was 3rd/2nd 3 year old at the 2019 ADGA National Show.

His kids are powerful, level showing great width but at the same time, lacking nothing in dairyness. His kids are open, angular, with long bone patterns. Really not too much to fault them on at this stage of the game!

I primarily used Magneto the past two years, and maintain a small herd, thus it is time for him to find a new herd.

My Queen, Jedi. ❤️

While I am aware she has some confirmation flaws, I still absolutely love this doe and hope is still out for a doe kid next year. She’s a powerhouse milker, and who says everyone needs to be a show goat?

I have a potentially exciting breeding in mind for Jedi this fall, so stay tuned.

Blue Moon Ranch Lush. 2 year old, 2F.

Results from yesterday’s 4 the Love of Dairy Goats Show, Lost Valley Dairy Goat Association. While no GCs or reserves, Lush placed well and I received some good feedback on her.

Ring 1, Dan Greene. 4th place 2 year old out of class of 12.

Ring 2, Dan Laney. 2nd place 2 year old out of class of 12.

Ring 3, Mark Baden. 2nd place 2 year old out of class of 12.

Lush is out of my first breeding of Jewels x Jivago, born here but only shown once as a intermediate kid in 2019. She’s growing up pretty nice and really like her 2020 doe and 2021 kids too.

FF love!! ❤️

Yearling milker Starlet Lace Kopernikus Frida....this morning was her FIRST time milked, FIRST time on a milk machine and she even lifted her leg to give me more room to her udder!

Life is about the simple pleasures and this is definitely a pleasure I want to repeat in my dairy parlor!

First milk test results for 2021 are in the pail! After taking a year off of milk test due to covid, it’s fun to be back and I’m pretty proud of my does!

Jedi is a powerhouse milker, and I am quite proud of these results as she had a few health hiccups this past year. 🤩

Barbie kidded with quads after a short bout of ketosis, but this doe is tough! She’s a smaller doe, but LOVES to eat and is getting the job done!

Lush is SO easy, no drama.

Powder Horn Mary Louise (7 yr/ 6F): 7.74 #
Blue Moon Ranch BF Jedi (4 yr/ 3F): 17.2 #
Blue Moon Ranch Lush (2 yr/ 2F): 10.98 #
Argonne’s Backwoods Barbie (2 yr/ 2F): 12.83 #
