Hey Rancho Bernardo! Pop up time! Only because we have some awesome avocados that you don't see everyday to share. The GEM avocado is a fairly new one for commercial growers with beautiful gold flecks. The Marvel is also a newer variety and I think one of the better tasting avocados I have come across. I like the creamy, buttery texture and flavor.
Delivery date will be Saturday, April 16, 2022. Sunday is Easter Sunday so some people will be busy. If I get enough requests for Friday I will drop off your order that morning.

"48" is the typical size for a "large" avocado, it means 48 fit into a carton that weighs about 25 pounds, so the larger the number, the smaller the fruit. some of our avocados are size "26", some are about 14 ounces so this is an unbelievable price!

We are going to have a limited amount of GEM avocados and Marvel Avocados available this week and next, it's a little awkward with Easter coming up for the pop up, but we thought we would make them available on Saturday at our place or possibly we could drive out to Escondido or Rancho Bernardo. Just posting to see how much interest there might be. These are large and extra large fruit and very good flavor, the Marvel is very Hass like but a little more buttery. This is an opportunity to taste these fine varieties.

Thanks again to our wonderful site hosts,Deborah Holcomb and family, Sonali Patil and family, and our customers who help keep our family farm going, every bit goes towards the upkeep and keeps fantastic, fresh, certified organic fruit coming to you and the community. We are starting to see all of the colorful birds, the orioles are everywhere, maybe nesting near their food sources. Seeing lots of bluebirds, Towees, Painopepla pairs, Blue Jays, swallows, finches and other small seed eating birds alighting on the grasses in the fields. Have a wonderful week everyone, even though it's a little dreary and misty right now!

Hey Rancho Friends! A "First" for us, well maybe a "fourth", since I missed the first few blooms, a seed grown Megalanthus Plant has actually bloomed here so we will have yellow fruit this spring or early summer probably. It usually takes 150-180 days versus the 37-48 taken for the red, white, and pick flesh varieties. so this will be an interesting experiment. They are REALLY spiky too! You are seeing yellow skin "Palora" in the stores now, they are a related variety, they come from Ecuador and far away, but these will be LOCAL and grown certified Organic so we are looking forward to seeing this new variety be successful here, Happy Growing everyone!

Hey Rancho Friends! Watching the Seed grown Columbiana, these are the first flowers , maybe in the next few days. Really exciting, the other yellows with a "Giant Palora" among them, are looking better, I may get them going after all but they do take their time so must be patient! In our conditions we are very fortunate to have them actually at this stage, hoping to have fruit for our customers, but remember. these take much, much longer to develop! Stay tuned! Hope all of your projects are successful!

We wanted to say "Thank You" to our hosts at the pick up site, David and Deborah Holcomb, and Thank you to all of the customers who have ordered fresh organic produce from our farm, Rancho Los Serranos. It has a been our pleasure to serve you and answer questions. We are grateful to everyone who is helping keep our little "Rancho" going in Valley Center. We also really appreciate how this has worked due to the respect that the customers have for each other. So far all orders have been picked up by the people who ordered them and everyone has been very gracious and kind to each other. Greetings Rancho friends. This is for all of the "fig nuts" out there. Look at the color on this new seedling fruit. I went out to check on the tree and found bird spatters all over the tree. They ate ALMOST all of the fruit, I was lucky to get this one. I have to name this one, it has a name based on the valve of the irrigation system it is next to, but it deserves a "real" name, so I'll have to think about it. Had a nice taste, balanced between sweet and tart, most of our seedlings seem to be more like this in flavor, but it could have used maybe another day to ripen to perfection. Hi Rancho Friends, we recently harvested some Muscat grapes that were really different this year, more green, even though they are a September ripening variety. They get this bronze/golden tinge to them like summer sun kissing them right before they leave the vine! Maybe the plant is evolving to cover the fruit perfectly, giant clusters this year! Very sweet, but does have seeds, which some people find annoying. I like seeds in grapes and watermelons myself! Hope you are having a lovely soon to be Fall day!🍂🌾🍁

Happy Fall morning to you Rancho Friends! Cool mornings don't stop the bees from mobbing the flowers! Watching the green fruit, will be picking again soon, sometimes it takes a little longer to ripen as the sun gets less intense. Hope you are having an awesome Fall time preparing for the family holidays and activities. Stay safe, take good care of yourselves and watch out for friends and family, check in on people you have not heard from for awhile. Let's get through this together. We will have a small amount of Passion Fruit, Jujubes, still picking figs, and will have Dragon Fruit soon. A little longer for the Avocados.

Wow! Ocean fog and mist are back, swirling over the land for hours! So interesting! Gives the trees a little break from the heat, some of the natives are adapted to this coastal mist and live on it. Hope you have an awesome, restful day! Moving into Fall I can feel the changes int he afternoons and evenings. Enjoy the last of the summer's fruit bounty! We are picking lots of dragon fruit even though the ladies are slowing down a bit.
