🌱 Exciting News from A Homestead Brew! 🌾🍯

We are thrilled to announce that we’ve been accepted into the SDSU Extension Foodpreneur Business Program!

As a fourth-generation farming family, our journey has always been about finding creative ways to take what we grow from the soil and turn it into something special.

Over the years, our farmhouse brewery has grown into much more than brewing b**r. We’ve continued exploring fermentation, farm-grown ingredients, specialty infusions, and the culinary arts that connect agriculture directly to the table.

Now we’re excited to take another step forward as we expand into infused honeys, barrel-aged beverages, specialty sauces, botanicals, and other edible arts through Homestead Terroir Kitchen!

One of the things we’re most looking forward to is the opportunity to continue learning alongside other food entrepreneurs, building relationships with industry professionals, exchanging ideas, and discovering new ways to bring South Dakota-grown products into restaurants, retail markets, and homes.

We believe there’s always something new to learn, no matter how many years you’ve been doing it. And some of the greatest opportunities come from the people you meet along the way.

A huge thank-you to SDSU Extension for this opportunity. We’re excited to grow, collaborate, and see where this next chapter takes us!

Hunting season in South Dakota is about so much more than the hunt. It’s about tradition, friendship, time outside, and making sure the people who have served our country can continue to be part of those experiences.

We’re proud to support Hero Haven, an incredible nonprofit built around helping veterans reconnect with the outdoors, with one another, and with a community that appreciates everything they have given.

And this is another example of why we love South Dakota.

South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks has an Action Trackchair® available through the Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls. This all-terrain mobility chair is free to check out and even comes with a trailer so it can be taken anywhere in the state.

That means someone who might have difficulty navigating a field, trail, shoreline, or rough terrain still has an opportunity to get outside.

Whether that means heading into a field for pheasant season, finding a favorite fishing spot, exploring one of our beautiful parks, or simply spending an afternoon outside with family and friends — access matters.

Programs like this, organizations like Hero Haven, and the people who volunteer, donate, hunt, fish, brew b**r, share stories, and look after one another are what make a community special.

There are some truly beautiful people doing beautiful things right here around us.

So as hunting season gets underway, keep Hero Haven and programs like the Game, Fish & Parks Action Trackchair in mind. You never know who in your family, hunting group, or community might be able to experience the outdoors again because someone made accessibility a priority.

B**r releases September 25 at 5 PM!

A toast to Curt and Cade Stensland, and to the ones we love. 🍻

We’re honored to share a commemorative India Pale L***r brewed with hops from their Star Sister hop yard—a connection to the land they worked and the years they devoted to growing something worth sharing.

This b**r gives us a chance to recognize them as farmers, fathers, and friends. To remember their place in our community, the work they put into their farm, and the love and friendship that reached well beyond it.

Deep amber in color, with a fuller malt backbone and bold hop bitterness, this IPL welcomes the cooler days of fall. Being able to brew with their hops makes this release especially close to our hearts.

When you raise a glass, we hope you’ll take a little extra time with the people beside you. Ask for another story. Tell an old friend how much their friendship means. Tell your family you love them. Those small moments deserve our time while we have them.

A lot of us are still in the middle of harvest or just wrapping up, but the seeds for next year are already being planted. 🌱

Great conversations today at “Sow the Connection,” South Dakota Specialty Producers’ organic and local farmer-buyer networking and market education event. It’s exciting to meet other growers, make new contacts, and hear where the industry is heading as we look toward the next growing season.

What are buyers looking for? Which markets are growing? What crops and products are becoming more practical to produce as knowledge, equipment, and resources improve? Those conversations help us make better decisions long before anything goes into the ground.

Farming and education go hand in hand. There’s always more to learn about our plants and soil, alongside the technical side of processing, marketing, financing, and running a farm that can support the next generation.

For us at A Homestead Brew, these connections help strengthen everything we’re building—from what we grow to what we bring to your glass and plate. Grateful to spend time with people willing to share what they’ve learned and help local agriculture keep growing.
