Naseem is now 3 yrs and time to go to work. Today was the first time with a cinch and not a flinch. He lunged like nothing was different, didn’t mind a pad on his back at all. Tomorrow, Marwan wants to throw a saddle on him. Hoping it too goes as well. I love that boy!

⚠️ INSPECT YOUR FORAGE BEFORE FEEDING!

❗️ When feeding your horse, always take time to carefully inspect your hay. While MOLD is a known risk, there are several other serious hazards to be aware of:

🪳BLISTER BEETLES in Alfalfa

• Found in many parts of the U.S. (see map below).
• Even small pieces of chopped beetles in a bale can be fatal to horses.
• Inspect alfalfa thoroughly before feeding.

🌾 DANGEROUS GRASSES TO WATCH FOR

Annual Ryegrass and Foxtail can both cause severe, even fatal, injuries to horses.
These grasses belong to the same family and are often resistant to w**d killers, especially in drought or post-drought conditions.

🌿 FOXTAIL

• Identifiable by barbed seed heads (awns) that can:• Get stuck in the horse’s mouth and gums, causing drooling, ulcers, and bleeding
• Migrate through the digestive tract, leading to internal ulcers and bleeding

• Four common types:• Yellow Foxtail
• Green Foxtail
• Giant Foxtail
• Foxtail Barley

🌾 ANNUAL RYEGRASS

• Resembles wheat at the seed head.
• Unlike Perennial Ryegrass (which is safe); Annual Rye can harbor a fungus responsible for neurological disorders like Staggers, which may be fatal.

🐴 Always err on the side of caution—your horse’s health may depend on what you catch before you put out to feed.

🙏 Do not just trust the word of your supplier. If you see questionable matter in your forage, take a photo and send it to your local Extension Officer for confirmation.

We are so proud of Allyson and husband Kevin Nutt who bred to our Madheen El Masr with their Vanilla Ice bred mare that gave them this great performance stallion Zaim EAE.
