Team Bay OR Team Gray?

It's pretty amazing to see how these yearlings change in such a short amount of time. Now 17 months old, Quita is really beginning to look like a grown-up. And almost 14 hands tall!
Her deep dark bay/gray coat has faded a bit in the summer sun... still very cool.

Wow!!! Two months ago she looked like a kindergartener... and yesterday, she looked like a high schooler. Time flies!

We're thinkin' this little gal is going to have some down and dirty moves.

Two months ago after some extended time off, our Peppa returned to training under the very capable hands of Catherine Johnson . And this past Friday she was back in the arena showing in the Derby at the 100x Show in Waco. Her performance had its ups and downs, but we're just so proud of the grit she demonstrated after losing a slider and sending it flying (which you can see in the slow mo part of the video during the second rundown). Despite having a badly damaged hoof, she powered on and completed two more stops - far from her best, but pretty darn good given the circumstances. And she still ended up in the money!
The farrier patched her up with a good deal of epoxy (there's a pic toward the end) and said she should be fine.
A big thank you to Mathieu, who has always believed in this little mare and to the rest of the crew at Mathieu Buton Reining Horses ! They're awesome!

Over the years, we've gone through the "first show" experience with many youngsters. All have demonstrated some level of anxiety upon arrival at the showgrounds. Usually, just mild lookiness. But some paced. Some wouldn't eat or drink for awhile. Some called out for friends.
But Razz? Despite this being her first out-of-town trip, she got off the trailer like an old pro. Walked calmly to her stall. Not one second of hesitation or stress. She patiently waited for her feed bag to get hung...then immediately took to munching away.
Pep, on the other hand, knows the routine. Other than being a little more impatient about getting her hay net hung, she's also a rock star.
Love these girls!

For a three-year-old kid who's never been farther than 12 miles down the road, the past ten days were quite the experience for Mr. Mo. The barn was a hub of non-stop hustle and bustle, and we think he handled it pretty darn well!

Such respect and appreciation goes out to Catherine Johnson and the whole crew at Mathieu Buton Reining Horses. You couldn't find a harder working bunch of peeps!

Literally, in the midst of a storm and the sounds of the rain coming down. Fortunately, this sweet pony was completely unfazed by the weather chaos all around her.
