Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! No matter how you celebrate and who you celebrate with, I hope you are safe, happy, and making memories one way or the other.
We have had a bit of a whirlwind of travel catastrophes, topped off by a burst pipe that made my in-laws’ house uninhabitable once we finally reached our destination. But, we all have our health, each other, and the knowledge that, at the end of the day, everything will be fine.
Wishing I had brought some of my bar ware on this trip, because I’m pretty sure we could all benefit from a strong drink right about now. But alas, here’s a Holiday Pod Chaser I made a couple nights ago and am once again craving.
Holiday Pod Chaser
1.5oz Bourbon
0.75oz Amaro Nonino
0.25oz Carmelized Fig Syrup ( )
A couple dashes of Angostura Cocoa Bitters
Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice.
Strain into a rocks glass with a chilled whiskey ball (that’s what makes it a Pod Chaser and not just an Old Fashioned 😉).
Express an orange peel over finished drink, lightly run it across the rim, and discard or drop it in the drink.
Cheers!

Sled Juice
(A holiday play on Jet Juice)
1.25oz Bourbon
0.5oz Pomegranate Liqueur
0.25oz Ancho Reyes Chili Liqueur
0.25oz Lemon Juice
0.25oz Spiced Cranberry Simple Syrup*
Shake all ingredients with ice.
Strain into a squat little glass.
Enjoy!
*Spiced Cranberry Simple Syrup:
Simmer 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, 1 cup cranberries, and 1 tbsp mulling spices on stovetop at med-low heat, stirring occasionally, approx 15 minutes. Once the sugar is completely dissolved and the syrup is fragrant and reddish in color, remove from heat and allow to cool. Strain syrup into a glass container, and store in the fridge.
Oga’s Cantina in Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has no shortage of super fun and gimmicky drinks. But the cocktail with my favorite flavors is the potent little Jet Juice. And while I doubt Oga Garra is particularly fond of holly, jolly anything, surely she wouldn’t mind a little festive twist on one of her cantina’s staples. This one has the lovely flavor combos of the Jet Juice, with the tart and sweet addition of the cranberry syrup. It’s served cold, but has enough of the strong stuff to warm you up on a chilly Batuu day!

Autumn Mark of the Huntress
2oz Bourbon
0.25oz Crème de cassis
0.25oz Allspice Dram
0.5oz Orgeat ( makes the best, in my opinion)
0.75oz Lemon Juice
Peach bitters
Topo-Chico
Shake all ingredients, except Topo-Chico, with ice.
Strain into a highball glass over ice.
Top with Topo-Chico.
Garnish with a skewered maraschino cherry and dehydrated persimmon.
Ta’ bu e tay!
It’s no secret that the Mark of the Huntress was one of my favorite cocktails on board the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser. And it’s hands-down my favorite drink to re-shake and riff on at home. This varietal adds a little autumn theming to the Mark of the Huntress we know and love, and it does not disappoint! If you have some Allspice Dram (aka fall spice with ABV content) in your home bar stash, go ahead and pour in a quarter ounce to your shaker tin the next time you mix this one up. I also swapped out the traditional dehydrated pineapple garnish for a dehydrated persimmon to add a little extra fall flair. Side note: I use Topo-Chico because I love it, but any sparkling water or seltzer will do just fine!

You gained an extra hour today! And whether you’ve spent the morning sleeping in or frantically questioning whether it’s actually 8:30 or 9:30, surely there’s time to sit back and enjoy one of these Chandrilian Mimosas, inspired by *that* cocktail featured in the Star Wars: Andor series. You know, the one with the worms… err… “squigs.”
Chandrilan Mimosas
1 or 2 “squigs”*
Persimmon Juice*
Prosecco
To a champagne flute, add some Persimmon Juice.
Add a squig or two.
Top with Prosecco.
Sagrona!
*Persimmon Juice and Squigs:
2 ripe Fuyu Persimmons
2oz Lemon Juice
Peel persimmons, and julienne several strips of a persimmon to make your “squigs.” Set the squigs aside. Dice what’s left of the persimmons.
Add diced persimmons, lemon juice, and approx 4oz water to a blender.
Blend ingredients and strain through a coffee filter and mesh sieve into a large measuring cup or other vessel. This will take awhile.
Pour Persimmon Juice into a glass bottle and store in the fridge.
I told myself I was not going to make squigs. Then I started thinking about putting gummy worms in a mimosa. Then I quickly realized that sipping on a mimosa and having a chewy, sugary gummy worm slither into my mouth would not be a pleasant drinking experience. Then my coworker’s family brought in a basket of homegrown persimmons, and I decided that having an occasional bite of julienned persimmon with my mimosa would be much nicer… and it was.

Work has been a bit crazy; I’m hoping to get behind the home bar this weekend, and might even have ideas for an autumnal version of a Mark of the Huntress. But, in the meantime, while I am cocktail-less, here are a few of my favorite characters from our Galactic Starcruiser adventure back in June:
1️⃣ “I would trust Raithe Kole with my life, but not with my wallet.” (or words to that effect)
2️⃣ The Master of my Fate; The Captain of my Soul.
3️⃣ Pound it, Chewie.

Perrin’s Embassy Punch
1.5oz Vodka
1oz Blue Curaçao
0.75oz Simple Syrup
Shake all ingredients with ice (because that’s what Perrin would want).
Strain into coupe glass.
No garnish.
This drink tastes like cough syrup, but it sure looks cool, and isn’t that all that matters to a bro like Perrin?
The latest episode of Star Wars: Andor featured no shortage of galactic cocktails. And when one character referred to a blue drink being passed around at a fancy cocktail party as “Perrin’s Embassy Punch,” I immediately jotted down the name.
For those who have not been watching the Andor series, Perrin Fertha is the bro-tastic husband of Senator Mon Mothma. And while Mon’s selflessness, wit, and wisdom make her a captivating character of seemingly endless depth, Perrin is, well, a little more shallow. He finds his wife’s charitable workings and constant concern for others to be “boring and sad,” and would much rather be enjoying the finer things in life and hosting epic house parties. As I examined the vibrant blue color of Perrin’s Embassy Punch and wondered to myself what ingredients I could combine to make a lovely recreation, I came to the realization that I was overthinking it. You see, a guy like Perrin really could care less what’s in his cocktail. He cares about the aesthetic. And probably also the alcohol content. This cocktail checks all Perrin’s boxes. It’s drinkable, and it looks cool. And isn’t that all that really matters?

Mandalore Mug Shot
1.5oz 100 proof Bourbon
0.75oz Averna Amaro
1oz Lemon Juice
1oz Orange Juice
0.5oz liquid from Luxardo Maraschino cherry jar
0.5oz Angostura bitters
Pour 0.5oz (or more, as you’d like) of Ango bitters into shot glass.
Shake remaining ingredients with ice.
Pour into mugs over ice.
Garnish with mint, orange wedge, Maraschino cherry.
Insert straw.
Choose your own adventure: Either shoot back the Ango shot separately; Or pour the Ango shot into mug and stir with straw to combine. (I chose the latter option, but I feel like real Mandalorians probably do straight Ango shots all the time.)
What do you do when you reach the end of a jar of Luxardo cherries? You use the remaining liquid in a tiki version of a Manhattan/Old Fashioned-type drink, of course! If you want a tiki drink that’ll put some Beskar on your chest, this one might just be the drink for you! Big bold flavors rounded out by the fruit juices. This is the way.

Well, the got to me, and after scrolling through some lovely end-of-Negroni-Week Drinkstagram photos, I shuffled over to my bar area, peeped around at what I had on hand, and somehow mixed together the tastiest Boulevardier I’ve ever made.
1.5oz Rye
1oz Coconut-oil-washed Campari
0.25oz Creme de Banana
0.25oz Sherry
0.5oz Sweet Vermouth
Stir all ingredients with ice.
Strain into rocks glass, over large ice cube.
Express an orange peel and add peel as garnish.
Cheers!
A word of warning: This makes one very full (and very strong!) drink. I had exactly 1.5 ounces of Angel’s Envy Rye left in the bottle, and I wanted to give it an appropriate sendoff by building this Boulevardier around it, but if I hadn’t shared my drink with , I may not be in a proper state to type this caption right now!

Cheers from this lavender Negroni I made tonight with some lavender-infused gin that’s been sitting in my fridge for… a while. It’s the start of and, even though Negronis are admittedly not my go-to cocktail, I’m always down for stirring up a photogenic bitter red aperitif in honor of a good cause.
1oz Lavender-infused gin
1oz Campari
1oz Sweet Vermouth
5-6 drops Orange-Fig bitters
Stir all ingredients with ice.
Strain into rocks glass over large ice cube.
Garnish with an orange wedge and sprig of lavender.
Enjoy!

Mai Tai Fighter
1oz aged Jamaican Rum (I used Appleton 12 year)
0.5oz Smith & Cross Jamaican Rum
0.5oz Demerara Rum (I used El Dorado 8 year)
0.5oz Grand Marnier
0.75oz Orgeat ()
1oz Lime Juice
0.25oz (rich) simple syrup
Flaming lime shell garnish, optional*
Shake all ingredients except garnish with ice.
Pour into mug with ice.
Garnish and Enjoy!
*Flaming Lime Shell Garnish:
After juicing limes for drink, reserve a spent half lime shell.
Hollow out the inside of the spent shell (but it’s ok if it’s not totally hollow).
Pour a little 151-proof rum in the shell.
Place the shell evenly and stably on top of finished drink.
Soak a sugar cube or two in the overproof rum, then put the cube(s) in the center of the shell. This will be your “wick” for the flame.
Light the “wick” with a kitchen torch.
Extinguish the flame before moving or consuming the drink.
Make sure to take appropriate precautionary measures when using an open flame, including having a fire extinguisher within arm’s reach in case everything goes wrong!
Oh, the Mai Tai. Such a beloved, well-known cocktail, and yet everyone thinks their own version is the best. Mine came from watching an episode of How2Drink a year or two ago and essentially applying Greg’s specs to the ingredients I had on hand at the time. I loved the end result so much I’ve been using it ever since. And is there really any better drink to welcome my latest Geeki Tikis mug to the family? A Mai Tai in a TIE Fighter?! It doesn’t get better than that!
