Garlic scape time is HERE!!!
Farmer Squeeky approves (though he can't eat them, he loves to play in the garlic patch!)
What the heck is a scape and what do you do with a scape you might ask?
Welllllll, let me tell you - they're freaking delicious.
The flower head that grows from garlic in the spring is completely edible and has a nice sweet garlicky flavor with the texture of a green bean. Eaten raw they've got a nice garlic punch. When cooked the flavor is more mild than garlic bulbs.
You can make:
🧄 PESTO with them
🧄blend them with a little yogurt or cream for a lovely sauce (pictured here with some Garlic Scape Orechiette, asparagus, mushrooms, snap peas and garlic scapes),
🧄make a garlic scape infused butter,
🧄grill it like asparagus,
🧄or just chop up and use like you would garlic!
🧄They're great with scrambled eggs too!
What's your fav way to use a garlic scape?
Seriously, try them, you won't regret it.
