Look at that GLOW 😍

I was lucky enough to snag a cutting of this beauty from Everly Acres 🌙 ✨ and it’s worth every penny! Thank you for the healthy cutting baby 💕

The deets:
-3ish inch formal decorative with lots of layers of petals
-The coloring of this variety is so unique it stops you in your tracks! The top side of each petal is a true golden yellow, with a pink reverse that ultimately creates an overall peach look from afar! The tips of each petal are highlighted with bright yellow, almost white which gives this variety its “glowing” look✨
-My plant is around 3.5 feet tall but it was grown from a pretty tall cutting, this may differ in other fields.
-Strong & sturdy stems which would be great for cutting!

Between the coloring, the form, and its potential as a cut flower, this is definitely one I’d love to have plenty of for bouquets next season! Luckily I grew it as a pot tuber for cuttings 😏

A little announcement 💕

The stand is open and it will be our last weekend until next spring!

It’s always so hard to call the season, especially when the flowers are still here. But the plants are tired, I’m tired, and the preparations for next season are beginning! Beds must be cleared and turned over in prep for seedlings or put to rest for late winter planting, plus all the work ahead on our new land … and lastly the dahlias 🤪

We’ve begun cataloging and ensuring all plants are tagged ahead of the big dig! This year I have the most plants and varieties I’ve ever grown. So the digging and dividing will be a bit bigger of a task than I’m used to.

Online ordering for flowers will remain open until Halloween and CSA’s will continue until their scheduled end date.

Thank you all for a wonderful season and I can’t wait to share the flower magic with you all next year ✨

The name, the coloring, the stems, the FLOOFINESS!! I’m in love with this 2026 intro from Burfoot Flowers ✨

Amarena cherries have a special place in my heart as they’re a little nod to my Italian roots, and back when I was 15 and working my first job at a gelato shop, amarena stracciatella was my FAVORITE flavor! So I knew just from the name alone I’d have a soft spot for this one, but the actual bloom?! She did not disappoint🍒

The deets:
-Roughly 5” formal decorative blooms with the slightly twizzly tips of an informal decorative 😍
-Soft pink and yellow bases on the front of each petal, outlined in cherry red and accentuated by a cherry red brush-stroked underside. The color contrast is just stunning!
-Around 4.5’ tall
-Darker stems with a great length for cutting!

Now, I know Mara mentions this isn’t the textbook cut flower, but I disagree!! The petals are surprisingly stiff and much sturdier than their delicate, fluffy appearance might suggest. While she may not have the vase life of a ball form I’ve still gotten around 5 days out of her. & for a bloom this beautiful and striking in bouquets, that’s absolutely worth it to me!

Between the unique coloring, the incredible form, and the sheer amount of petals on each bloom, I’ll most definitely be beefing up my stock for cutting next season🍒✨

She’s a stunner, and I can’t wait to grow more!

It’s official, this is my favorite dahlia bloom of 2026! ✨

I’m so excited to be spotlighting this beautiful variety not only because it’s claimed my top spot this year but because it was hybridized by my dear friend Mara of Burfoot Flowers 🧡

This variety not only showcases Mara’s signature color palette of peachy pink with a hint of cool toned magenta but it boasts such unique, top performing cut flower qualities! The stems are unlike any variety that I grow. They’re so strong and thick while also still being a great length for cuts! (Yes I know how that all sounded but there was no way around it 🤪). The form is waterlily-like but the flower does not fade after a couple of days like a typical waterlily form. Even on day 5, almost all of this bloom’s petals remained turgid and showed little signs of wilt. Also like a waterlily dahlia, the petals do cup at night! Which makes it oh sooo magical. Lastly, the sheer AMOUNT of petals on this bloom is astonishing. Even after the bloom faded it did not blow its center! Just petals for days and days … and days ✨

I have time-stamped a few photos here so you can see the progression of this single bloom!

The deets:
Color: light Peachy pink with hints on orange on the front side of the petal, with a slightly cool toned light magenta underside
Form: Waterlily adjacent/formal decorative
Bloom size: 5-6 inches
Plant height: 4ish feet

I will be growing as many plants as possible next season so I can have armfuls of this beauty! If you enter a dahlia war for any variety this winter season, let it be Burfoot Roan ✨

So many “firsts” are happening as I begin breaking ground on this new land!

The best and most exciting one: the very first future flowers have officially been planted! 🎉

I went back and forth on whether I wanted to plant perennials this fall or wait until spring, but looking at the workload ahead, I decided anything I can get done now will only help me in the long run.

Which brings me to another first...
Tilling!

Something that has weighed pretty heavily on my earth-loving heart, but there really wasn’t a way around it if I wanted to get these perennials in this fall. So for the first time ever, I operated a BCS and tilled soil!

This particular area was more recently used for kale and was still partially covered in landscape fabric. The weeds were pretty intense, but I’m hoping to manage them moving forward with heavy wood chipping in the pathways and a thick layer of leaf mulch around the perennials.

And the last “first” is one I’ve been anticipating for months...

My truck hauled its first load of compost to the new field!

When I made the decision to expand and start looking for land, I knew it was finally time to get a truck. I had been absolutely trashing my nice SUV with dirty boots, plants, flowers, soil... you name it. So I traded in my 2020 Kia Sorento for a 2010 Honda Ridgeline.

I still needed something safe and practical for transporting my kids, but I also wanted something I could comfortably get dirty and actually use for farm work. And I love it sooo much. Zero regrets!

Seeing it loaded up with beautiful compost and headed to my new growing space really made my heart so full ♥️

A huge thank you to Kiwicat Dahlias & Designs for selling your beautiful plants to me and a couple of other awesome farmer friends! And a special shoutout to Melissa Stewart, Specialty Cut Flower Farmer-Florist & Mike Stewart for coordinating the dig and LaVidaDahlia for the extra hands! Together we tackled digging, transporting, and repotting most of her existing perennials in a day! Now some are starting their next chapter here at Midnight Magic Garden ✨

More to come! Oh and give me your raked leaves pleaseeeee 😏

A HUGE shoutout and thank you to Dilish Farm! 🥹

Not only for welcoming Midnight Magic Garden onto this new piece of land, but for coordinating an incredible volunteer event at the farm and letting me wrangle a whole crew to help turn over my new growing space!

And an extra special thank you to the Lincoln High School boys soccer team!! You guys accomplished what would have taken me WEEKS to do on my own in just a couple of hours. Seeing this space go from completely overgrown to nearly bare with so many helping hands was honestly a little surreal.

I’m beyond grateful for every single person who showed up, worked hard, got dirty, and helped me take such a huge step toward getting this new field ready for flowers next year!

Next step… till (hopefully just this once), cover crop and then planting 🥹
