PSA: Moose Hunters!!

We will be gone October 16th-22nd
If you need to drop off a skull for euro mount work that week, please put your skull somewhere the rodents cant get to it, give us a call and leave us a message, we'll call you as soon as we get back into service to coordinate drop off.

It's sheep week!! I love these cool autumn days for washing outside. 🥰

I have 3 beautiful customer sheep pelts to do, then Im on to my own critters before we get busy again.

I start the sheep off with Rittels wool degreaser. Then rinse well and put McKenzies degreaser in their pickle.
They are oily and stinky but they are so rewarding to finish!

We do a lot of goat buck skulls for local farmers who to want to remember their herd sire after they've passed. This one...

A couple of announcements for upcoming October...

1. We will be gone and closed (Except for milk customers) October 16th-October 22nd!!! For our annual bird hunting trip. We will be open bright and early for youth day on the 23rd to tag! Which leads me to my next announcement.

2. Every youth hunter that tags a buck here will be put into a raffle bucket... whoever is drawn on Sunday, October 25th will be getting their buck done up as a european mount FOR FREE here at the Mercantile!!

We can't wait to see all of the deer you kiddos get this season. 😁

IMPORTANT:
We are OUT of milk and eggs. I will restock eggs this evening. Milk will be restocked on Friday like usual.

Modern trapping is backed by science.

What science, you say?
Well.... just ask this poor baby.

He has mange. Really bad mange. He was dispatched (Legally) for his own good. He couldn't open his eyes, was wandering down a road and then decided to lay down not 30 yards from humans to take a nap.

Science shows that mange thrives in high densely populated wildlife areas.

Prey is thriving, predators are thriving, humans continue to build development after development. Causing wildlife to be densely populated.

This is why we manage this property and other properties with responsible, legal trapping using bioligist formed guidelines and rules.

We don't want to eradicate these beautiful creatures. We want them to thrive, provide and coexist with us. So we trap.

If you are in the tannery line up, we ask that you give us a week or two of extra patience.

We were told today that our senior dog is likely terminally ill and we will know in about 3 days if she will improve or not.

We thank you for your patience. Should you stop by the shop this week, her name is Dinah, and she loves visitors.
