Hecht's Sweet Corn

I am posting this to announce the end of an era. After 35 years of operating HECHT’S SWEET CORN, we are closing shop.
Our predecessors, Jim and Janet Hecht, began and operated this sweet corn business for 13 years. So there have been 48 years of Hecht’s Sweet Corn.
Our farm is active in a number of other crops. There are cattle on the farm too. Busy school schedules as well as off farm employment are demanding. Jan and I are in our 70’s now. Time and family resources are spread thin.
Through the years we have employed at least 300 young people. Since the loss of our son Marty in 1993, it has been a wonderful blessing to have all of these “Sweet Corn Kids” working with us. We have seen these young people learn and grow to become fine adults. We have made so many precious friendships.
So…. A “BIG THANK YOU” to our children, grandchildren, our workers and the uncountable faithful customers and friends who have supported us all these years.
We praise our Lord for all these many blessings. We have had a good run!

We've got some corn to shuck! Today, we are happy to serve sweet corn from Hecht's Sweet Corn out of Vassar MI. It's the perfect compliment to this cool day...

Our last 2 days of our Sweet Corn season are here! The rain was good for the crop and made delicious cobs for meal time and for freezing. Helpers are back to school but Self Serve is quick and easy. Just missing the smiling faces!

Remember "Field of Dreams"? Our Sweet Corn field also has a slogan: If you pick it they will come! We are picking the last corn of our season and would sure like to have you stop by the wagon!!

Whew! What a day with the early morning storm, tree branches down and no electricity. Thank you to all our faithful customers who came today making the muddy picking worthwhile. Bushel Special continues throughout the season. Buy 4 dozen get the 5th dozen FREE!

Wow! Strong wind with rain! We are open! Sweet Corn picked before the storm went through. Self-serve again today along with the Bushel Special-buy 4 dozen get the 5th dozen FREE! No electricity here so my plan for freezing corn today is delayed.
