Hi friends… I wanted to take a moment to check in because I know I’ve been quieter than usual.
For the past five weeks, I’ve been between the hospital and now a rehab center, working through some pretty serious health challenges. My vision has been declining, my mobility has taken a hit, and most days are focused on small wins like getting a few more steps in or making it through PT without feeling like the room is spinning. It’s been overwhelming, and I haven’t had the ability to show up here the way I normally do.
Because of all of this, I haven’t been able to work… which has been incredibly hard in its own way. Jason and Elena have been doing everything they can to hold things together at home while I focus on getting better, and I’m so grateful for them I don’t even have the words.
But even from here… I see what’s happening in this group. And it means everything.
You’ve continued to show up for each other. You’ve kept the conversations going. You’ve continued to support the restaurants that make this community what it is… places like Yummies Donuts & Barbecue, Tikka Indian Cuisine, Bodrum Restaurant, Côté France, Leone’s Italian Kitchen, and Cabo Breeze Mexican Restaurant… and you’ve continued to show love to Tasty Tuesday even when I haven’t been able to be as present.
To those restaurant owners… thank you for your patience, your trust, and your support during a time when I haven’t been able to give this my all. That does not go unnoticed.
And to this community… you’ve always been more than just a food group. You’re connection, kindness, and heart. Watching that continue, even while I’ve had to step back, has been one of the bright spots in a really difficult season.
If you’ve been wondering how you can support me during this time… continuing to visit the website, checking out and sharing articles, and helping spread the word about Venice Foodies truly makes a difference right now. Even something as simple as sharing a post helps keep everything going while I focus on healing.
If you feel called to support in that way, here’s a direct link with more information:

I’m still here. I’m still fighting to get back to myself. It’s just taking a little longer than I expected.
Thank you for sticking with me… it truly means more than I can say.
❤️Alyssa
