I’ve had lots of questions from concerned customers about protocols for safety during this EHV-1 outbreak. We have guidance from veterinary professionals and want to assure you that the utmost attention is paid to biosecurity and the safety of everyone’s horses.

Here you will see the array of my cleaning regimen, the protocols, and the details on their use and how it helps to protect everyone.

Halt 5 is a commercial grade disinfectant, virucide, sanitizer, cleaner, and deodorant. This is used in many large scale facilities and high traffic areas to sanitize and remove contagions.
This is used for the sanitation of my shoes/boots between farms or clients.

Rescue is a deep clean solution used in many veterinary and animal facilities due to its broad spectrum efficacy and simple formula- the power of hydrogen peroxide!
This is used in a wipe form to clean off tools and flat surfaces, as well as a concentrate, diluted at 1:64 which kills EHV-1 in 5 minutes.

In addition to these disinfectants, I also have plastic boot covers on hand if there’s any uncertainty of any level of exposure.

In lieu of the EHV concerns, I am taking precautions as a farrier to make sure tools and equipment are cleaned and clothes changed in between each stop to make sure nothing is spread. As always my customers horses health and well being are my number one priority. As far as our personal horses, they were vaccinated and haven’t left our property in over a month. I pray that this levels off and that everyone’s horses are ok.

Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes today and the prayers over the last 8 weeks. So thankful for each and every one of you. Yall are truly the best. I plan on more birthdays and less ER visits.
