Unpopular opinion: Merlot is good. Gang I promise if you try the right Merlot all of your preconceived notions of Merlot will be gone. This is not your grandma’s Merlot (no offense grandma - we love you and you should drink what you like) - this one is lighter in body, taste of fog, slate, spice and just loveliness. Just went to their vineyard a few weeks ago and saw how they farm and how they make their w**e. Dry farmed, sustainable agriculture. That’s how we like it. Cheers to those who try to make w**e and farming better. We all benefit when that happens.

Soon you will have little monsters, witches, & dinosaurs gathering as much candy in their bags and buckets as they can hold. Will you be ready? What w**e will be in your vestibule? We’ve got ideas:

“Bloody” - 100% Groulleau from Anjou, Western Loire Valley. Whole cluster fermentation making it smooth, and with a little bit of a spicy bite. (Pun absolutely intended)

“Mus’cat” - An allocated w**e aka RARE/ hard to find. This orange beauty is dry, tropical and screams aperitif! 😱

“Buteo” - Gruner Veltliner- this Austrian dark horse is fun, bright and tastes of ripe (poison?☠️) apples.

“Vermilion Valley Vineyards Dornfelder” - Why should the kiddos be the only one with a sweet treat? This German style grape grown right here in Northeast Ohio is a semi sweet red that will pair lovely with your KitKats. 🍫🤌

Great news! Book Club is almost here! Tuesday Sept 29! Can’t wait to see familiar and new faces as we discuss Alice Feeney’s “Rock Paper Scissors.” Read the book. Read the title. Just come! We talk about a lot of stuff not just the book. Intergenerational conversations a so valuable and just dang fun. Hope to see you there!
