I’m still alive. Sorry for the lack of posting. Bought a house with some land. Finally getting settled in after a long 6 months. Very happy to have the goats living on the same property as me again. The last 6 years have been a challenge but it has paid off. Should be a lot more engaged on here again and plan to get the goats back into the performance programs soon.

Offering this guy. Probably will regret it. I have liked the kids I’ve got from him so far but I don’t have any photos of fresh daughters. I do feel like they were improved over their dams as far as udder structure goes.

He is available at anytime but I am happy to keep him around until the fall/early winter if the buyer isn’t ready until then. He was bottle fed but has since decided he doesn’t like humans. So he is a pain to catch.

2025 Appraisal

Sunday was the first time my herd has been appraised since 2021. It was also the first time I have appraised since they changed up the program. Slightly different from what I remember but still a great tool and always great to have someone with an unbiased eye look at your animals.

A lot has changed in my herd the past few years. I’ve made some tough cuts and I’ve lost some really nice does. I lost Betty White to pregnancy complications and Daly Quinn to kidding complications this year. Both beautiful does but if someone legitimately asked who my favorite doe in the herd was I’d have to say “Betty White”. She was the total package. I’ve been fortunate to have lost very few animals that I genuinely enjoyed seeing every day. This one has been the hardest pill to swallow but I’m taking it as a sign to slow down and cut back.

Two of what I feel are my best does didn’t freshen this year. SG 3*M Onaqui BH Sweet Elk who appraised EEEE91 in 2021 and Onaqui G Fat Tuesday. So most of this years scores are from does who have never been scored and are still maturing.

However, some good news is 12 year old “SG 2*M Creamery Creek SweetNCreamy” freshened this year with a single. I could have opted her out due to her age and the fact that she already has a permanent score of EEEE92 but I told the appraiser I thought she looked great for her age and I’d like to have her scored again. At 12 years old and with 9 lactations. She scored VEEE91. Same final score she received as a 4 year old. A good majority of my herd goes back to this doe. Grateful for her contributions to my program. Proud of her willingness to work and her longevity. She hasn’t slowed down a bit and she looks just as great as ever in my opinion. Hopefully I can get a few more kids from her.

Elite doe 5*M SG Sugar Moon F Starlight scored GEEE90 as a 9 year old with 9 lactations.

Unfortunately two of the other top scoring does this year measured OH. This was a first for me. Kind of takes the wind out of your sails when you know they excel in every other category.

They are large does no doubt but I didn’t expect them to measure over. Hopefully we can get them scored again soon. However, this year they were OH.
